Let me know when.
Either location would work for me in the summer. Louis Riel is easier by bus but further. William Stephenson is closer but I'd have to walk a good part of the distance as bus connections are awkward. Shouldn't be a problem though for my new hip in the summer.
I'm busy with the Fringe Festival from July 14th to July 27th Some nights in that stretch might not work for me. When were you thinking of having it?
Hello All,
I am trying to find a Nutritionist or Dietician here in Winnipeg who is familiar with Bariatric surgery patients. I have had a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and a Duodenal Switch ( with Gallbladder removed after ). Both procedures were done in Montreal as my BMI was too high for the manitoba program. I have gone from 368 pounds since March 2013 to 238 pounds currently but I am having trouble especially since the gallbladder removal with continuing to lose weight so I am looking for a professional help. I've called the Bariatric clinic at the Vic several times with no return calls. My dr referred me to Krisitin Hildahl but when I called she is on mat leave. Does anyone know or work with a dietician who deals with bariatric surgery patients. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated !!!!!
Either location is probably fine with me.
I had my surgery in November and from the moment I got into day surgery til I went home I can't say enough about the great staff. I too had minimal pain. I had surgery at 9 am on a Tuesday and was discharged at 6 pm the next day. I had to stay a bit longer as my potassium was very low. I couldn't sleep that night in the hospital so I walked and drank water. Slept like a log when I got home. I took a T3 before I went home as I had to go back to Portage la Prairie but that was the last time I took any painkillers, no nausea at all.
Best of luck tomorrow!
Thanks! I go in tomorrow morning and I'm getting excited :) I'm hoping to have a good recovery and minimal pain.
I will do my best to keep in touch now that I'm going to be a member of the club.
Good luck and welcome to the loser's bench! My surgery was completely uneventful. I had my surgery early in the morning and was back in my room by 1 pm from recovery. I had literally no pain post op and was up walking by mid afternoon on my day of surgery. I remember them giving me chicken broth and some tea and a Popsicle by bedtime. No problems with staff at all. I have to say I wasn't a top priority for them but I didn't need them for anything either. I got up on my own to the bathroom pushing my IV pole and got up for walks on my own. Slept for most of the night and then got up and washed up and was home by 1:30 pm day after surgery. I am coming up to 14 months post op and have absolutely no complications. I am active and can eat almost everything except I tend to stay away from breads a lot of the time unless it is toasted. I just eat a lot smaller amount. Had lobster last night and had no problems at all. I chew, chew and chew some more. Good luck and stay in contact post op.
So the day is coming! I am going in on Monday morning bright and early for my wls. My pre-op diet has been oh so much fun .. and I can't wait to be done. Don't get me wrong now that I'm days away from surgery I haven't been minding the boost haha soo my question is ... does any one have any good tips about my recovery during my hospital sleep over?
Has anyone had good or bad experiences with the support staff in preop at the hospital? Let me know! Also I wouldn't mind going to a m&g after. Is there any official time or date or location set yet?
My e-mail is [email protected]. Thanks so much for adding me to the list.
