Are you in the Facebook groups? There are a lot more postings on there. They are secret groups (you can't do a search and find them) and you have to be invited to join. If you're on Facebook, let me know and I'll try to invite you.

Thanks Karen; I wish that more of those that have been called for orientation and are on their way to surgery would post. *sigh* Just wish there was a way to get more information.
My doctor referred me in 2012 and I was denied due to a higher BMI than the limit at the time. Late last summer, the bariatric program contacted my doctor and informed her that due to changes in their policy, I had been accepted and placed on the list. I just received a letter from Victoria Hospital to attend an information session at the end of next month. I'm hoping surgery can be scheduled for mid to late Spring.
The meet and greets held outside of the hospital are open to anyone who has had or is having WLS. It is more than a clothing exchange as there is a chance to sit down and visit and ask questions of other people who have already been through the process. They aren't always on the same day as people try to move them around so everyone has a chance to attend.
If you are on the program through the Victoria Hospital, you will be put on a 2 to 3 week liquid fast before surgery. It consists of 5 Diabetic Shakes a day and other liquids that are caffeine and sugar free.
