I am still waiting. I had my orientation in April. My big 4 hour appointment with everyone is end July. I feel like I am slowly getting closer.

You are in luck, we have a couple of regulars who have been through the Edmonton program, hopefully we can get y'all together at the June 19th gathering, I'm sure you have questions that they can answer.  Good on you for all your efforts in tracking your food, being proficient at it will definitely help you keep on track after surgery.  I do a combo of cardio and weight lifting to help increase my muscle mass as I'm sure you know muscle burns calories faster (and just looks and feels so nice) .  Try upping your weights to help kick start your weight loss again.

. Surgery date OCTOBER 16th

Congrats on getting your appointments. Sometimes you'll find time go by slowly but stick it out (as obviously you have in already losing 70 lbs) and other times time will go by quickly. I had my first set of appointments in August of last year and now I'm scheduled to have my Gastroscopy next  month. After that is done I'll be given my surgery date.

MFP is great for recording meals, analyzing recipes and planning meals. I also use eaTracker to check my daily nutrition levels. Both are very helpful.

All the best....

Topic: RE: Winnipeg Support Group Get Togethers

Thanks NG, I'll mark it on my calendar. I'm well on my way to my surgery date, am enrolled in the Bariatric Surgery Program in Edmonton as I was not eligible in Manitoba.

I get lots of support from the program team in Edmonton and from the participants and facilitators in Edmonton when I attend appointments and workshops there. However I live in Winnipeg and know I would really benefit from a support group here. I will be given my surgery date soon (after my Gastroscopy next month).

I find I'm getting anxious as what was once quite far away is now coming closer and I know time will pass quickly. I have already dropped 60 lbs by eating healthier and being more active but I have found that my weight loss has slowed down/stopped. I need to increase my activity to boost my metabolism and be  more careful what I eat and when.

BTW I use MFP and/or eaTracker to record my meals. Eatracker gives you in-depth nutrition information but MFP is a bit quicker and has a bigger database. It also itemize the calories individually to the foods inputted. With eT you have do a little math. But I like being able to daily check my protein, fat, salt, vitamins, fibre levels etc.

Please keep me posted. Is the Friendly Manitobans WLS group active? I posted there as well. Thanks

Topic: A little victory dance!

In 2 weeks I have my set of 4 hour appointments at the Vic. Actually I will see everyone but the dietician who I will see on July 4th. Amara assures me this will not effect my timeline for surgery.

So I have been doing all the things they told us at orientation, started My Fitness Pal, exercising, have dumped pop for almost 2 months now and started with the vitamins. I weighed myself today and I am down a total of 70 lbs from when I started this journey quite awhile back! I am starting to feel ready for the appointments and everything that will come after. I can't believe after such a long wait that this is finally happening.
