Hi Everyone, My name is Diane and I had VSG in Oct 2012.  I am down 113 total and about 96 lbs since my surgery.  I have found this site very helpful and have really benefited from the support I have received here.  I would like to lose about another 5-10 lbs and have already seen plastics about abdominoplasty.  I was told I would be a successful candidate for partial coverage in MB but would definitely benefit from the full tummy tuck, so I am saving for the difference.  I also feel the longer I can work on my muscle layer, the better the result will be in the end so I am hoping for surgery next spring.

I have acid reflux but control by 2 zantac a day and have been lucky to have never thrown up or had any nasty side effects other than the GERD.  I use MyFitnessPal religiously and believe it has kept my on the right path when through a lot of temptation.

. Surgery date OCTOBER 16th

Kristin, hang in there. The Bariatric team in Edmonton have been great - I get a lot of support from all the members but especially Erin, Dr. Modi and Christine. The office staff have been great and very supportive too.  Have you been attending the Weight Wise modules? All of Alberta Health's Weight Wise community programs are open to you. I try to take as many modules as I am able when I go to Edmonton for follow ups. These modules are a great resource - I like them so much that I've taken a couple twice and would do all of them over again.

i was stuck too in April and May but have increased my activity level to jump start my metabolism. I'm also making sure I get enough sleep and stick to their recommended nutrition plan.

I go to the YMCA to swim in the AM (6:30-6:45) You are welcome to join me. When are you next in Edmonton?

Topic: ???? Heartburn but not sure
I am 7 weeks post op and just this week started to have some ???? Heartburn. It starts in my throat and at times moves to my stomach I think. Today I went back to blander foods hoping this might do the trick. Any suggestions??? Just don't feel as good as I have the previous 3 weeks! I started riding my bike and I know this sounds ridiculous but it's funny how it started when I began riding my bike for exercise. It isn't a constant thing and in fact, it occurs later at night than any other time of the day. You post-opers, any suggestions would help! Thanks!

Topic: Heart Rate Monitor watches

Ok, so I am in the market for a heart rate monitor that tracks heart rate as well as calories burned during workouts. I know many of you use the Fitbit, but I kinda skipped it because it isn't compatible with my smart phone...and I will be honest, if I need to sit at the computer every day to log, I wont do it. I have looked at the Polar ones..but apparently some have issues with being bumped during a workout and then you lose your data..NOT COOL.

So if you use one, give me your likes and dislikes! I would greatly appreciate it. Also if you have upgraded to something better and wanna sell your old one, let me know!

Kristin from here in the 'Peg.  I am also in the Weight Wise program in Edmonton because I was above the criteria for the program here.  I'm stuck in a rut and feel like quitting.  Time will tell I guess.

Hi I am Claudia from just outside of Winnipeg. I had my first group meeting January 2013 and my consults after that. My surgery was on May 13, 2013 so I am about 7 weeks post op. I feel I am doing well as I am trying new foods to see what I like and prefer and what I don't care for. Just this past week I have upped my exercises to include both walking and cycling and have been managing between 45 - 50 minutes a day. Good luck to those who are waiting for their surgery and congrats to those who have ventured along this new path in life. Hope to meet some of you at the next meet and greet.

Hi everybody

This is Dianne. I had VSG in Mexico on Feb 6/12. I'm down 100 lb, more or less. I bounce up & down about 5 lb. I read these posts but don't post much myself. I've been at the same weight for 6 months, so I'm not sure any more is going to come off.

Good luck with the hip replacement, Mike. My husband has had both of his done and it has made a huge improvement.

Good luck to everyone who hasn't had surgery yet and congrats to everyone who has.

Having this surgery was one of the best things I've ever done. I haven't regretted it for one second. Going for the surgery was scary, especially going out of the country, but things went better than I ever could have expected and the whole experience has been great. My wish would be that everyone could have the best experience possible.
