haha! I just finished sending you a message about how your 4 appointments went on another thread. And yah, I did end up calling the bariatric program. They said the same thing as you just did. I need to wait until my 4 meetings in september.

how did your appointments go?  I have my 4 appointments in September. What did they ask you? Was it kinda scary or ok?

Hi Bernie

You need a new doctor. The decision to have bariatric surgery is yours to make, not your doctor's. A doctor *****fuses to refer a patient when requested to do so should not be practicing medicine. Would he/she refuse to refer you for a hip replacement? You should not have to make the choice to go out of the country and pay for surgery unless that's what you want to do, not because you have a doctor whose opinion is different than yours. He may disagree with it, but he has no right to refuse to refer you.

I went to Mexico because I didn't want to wait. The surgery fee was $7000 US. That included everything (hotel, shuttles, surgery, any specialist fees, tests). This included the cost for a companion to stay in the hotel with me. We had to book & pay for our own flights. They also charged about $125 for medications (painkillers and a prescription acid reducer).

Good luck!

What was the cost for the surgery?

My dr has absolutely refused to refer me for gastric bypass

I tried a couple of times to register for the Craving Change through the bariatric program and they would not register me until I had my first set of appointments. The psychologist signed me up when I saw her for the first time.

Do I just call the reception number to register for cravings change.? I  had my orientation already and I was told I could take the craving change here in Brandon. OMG!! I have called 3 times and no one returns my calls. I think I am just gonna come out to winnipeg and take it. So who do I call?
