I know of someone who did that and a year and four months out from surgery she is now gaining weight. It is about mind set and wanting to change your life and doing whatever it takes. Not about if you can get away with something or not. That is my old way of thinking (I can get away with things cheating etc).
I have a co-worker who just told me about her WLS experience. She said even though she was supposed to drink 5 bottles of boost a day she still ate food every few days and she was fine. WTF???
And she said that her surgery went fine and there isnt any need for the 2 weeks of boost???!!! anyone else know someone that did this?
Dr Islur did not give me the prices; he gave me Ashley's number at the Maples Clinic and I got them from her. He told me I would take an extra 3.5 hrs over what MB Health would pay for; so I am just paying for the time. I don't need any muscle reconstruct either; don't know if you do or how long he said your surgery would take; but maybe check with him again.
If Manitoba Health is paying the portion for the panniculectomy, this seems pretty reasonable. I had heard brachioplasty (the arms) was about $4000. I've never checked into that myself. The fleur de lis is obviously a lot more complex than what I had. There is obviously not a long waiting list either, which is really good. Good luck!

Hi
If you go to a good facility, I would recommend it 100%. You have to be careful, though. Some places are not so good.
The place I went to (see my signature) is a designated Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. Others on the Manitoba board went to another physician in Tijuana and were very happy with him as well.
I'm sure there are other reputable surgeons in other cities in Mexico. Be sure to do your homework and check out credentials and reviews from other people before deciding to choose one.

Hi Lorna
The abdominoplasty alone was around $8500. I had some other lipo done as well. The total was over $10,000. I had to look up the fleur de lis. No, I didn't have that version, just the horizontal incision with some liposuction in the upper abdomen and around the back.
I also decided to have it done here in Winnipeg for the same reasons. It wasn't that much cheaper. Now that I've had it done, I can't imagine having to fly for five or six hours, make the trek through the Mexican border & slog around two airports after having that surgery. It would have been pretty awful.

Thanks Mike for putting all this info together in one place for us.
