Mike every post I read of yours I am impressed with the way you handle yourself and your choice of words. You are indeed a great Advocate! I'm glad you are on the boards with us!
I asked my nurse case manager in Edmonton about this and she replied that they don't have anything like this. My gut feeling is that advocates might not necessarily be welcome as advocacy seems to happen when someone is not happy with a situation or a decision by the 'system'...
...I know that to be included in the Craving Change workshops at the Victoria Hospital, I had to 'buck' the system by advocating for myself and making a case with MBHealth. I got in but it was made very clear to me by the Vic that this was a one time thing.
I would suggest contacting an existing advocacy group in the medical or health care field here in the province to see if they could suggest direction. Or Chaplain Services or Patient/Social Work Services at a hospital for some guidance.

Sure Trish, we can meet for coffee whenever our schedules coincide. Let me know when it might work for you. I can meet during the day depending upon any appointments I may have.
I hope I remember to come!!! I wor****il 3 that day but would love to stop in after work. I would just love to see everyone.
I rrsp'ed to this one. Remembered Wed night at about 6:30. Bummed out that I missed it.
Hi Pegcitygirl
I had the plastic surgery done on Aug 10! You can check out my original post:
If you put your mouse over my picture, you can see a link that says "latest posts". Click on that and you will see a list of my recent posts. The plastic surgery one is "Full abdominoplasty two weeks ago - so far, so good". If you click on that title where it appears anywhere, it will take you to the full thread of the original post.
I'm now four weeks out and things are progressing well. I'm feeling mostly back to normal, except for the continuing weird feelings in my abdomen. Sneezing and coughing still aren't very pleasant!
I still have the bulge I mentioned in the first post and discovered a little more asymmetry in another spot. However, the consent I signed stated this might be a possibility, so I suspect this is the way it will be unless I pay more to have it all fixed. I'm not sure I'm willing to do that, but we will see. I likely couldn't consider anything like that until a year or so out anyway.
