You can add me Melissa! I am under Karen Hume Erickson and I think the picture is of my son. I am on day 3 of the boost diet and my surgery is November 13.
I'm on facebook and looking for some fellow manitoba forum people to share this journey with. My journey at this point is seeing the surgeon on the 22nd of November. Soon to get my date!! yay me! If anyone is interested in being a facebook friend. My name is Melissa Reid. my profile has my pupper dogs on it and says I live in Calgary. I've just never changed that. I'm actually in Brandon. I'd love to share stories and Journeys and pictures of our changing lives!
Awe Michelle Hugs!!!! I know you are going through a lot right now. I have only one suggestion though that is track your food and water and protein first dear. I am scared of the same thing when I have my PS and that is the route I am going to try to adhere to.

I go back to work next week . Hopefully structure will help get back on track
I had surgery to biopsy a lymph node in August and it came back as thyroid cancer. I had a modified neck dissection October 15 to remove the rest of my thyroid ( I had most if it removed in 2006) and a whole whack of lymph nodes in the right and middle of my neck. I've been off work 2.5 weeks now. I really wasn't expecting this much pain and discomfort . I'm still numb in parts of my shoulder, chest and my right ear is totally numb ( like dental frozen numb) I'm super stuff and
Full of muscle knots , my neck muscles have got ropey

Niki! Nice to see you back.
Look at how much you HAVE LOST!! You are down 130 lb from where you started, which is fantastic, no matter how you look at it..That's equivalent to the weight of an entire person. Sorry to hear about all your other health issues that are obviously even worse than before.
As for the plastic surgery...I'm pretty sure Dr. Islur will apply to Manitoba Health for your tummy tuck, so you won't be looking at anywhere near that much. I paid for my tummy tuck & lipo privately because I didn't expect to be approved (no skin issues) and I was on a timeline. You end up with a mons lift with the tummy tuck pretty much by default, or at least I did anyway. All that skin gets stretched up.
I have never exercised in my life either. I just went to my first-ever yoga class last night because I knew I had to do something. I know I'm going to have to push myself to keep going. If I didn't know the instructor personally, I would never have gone.
I'd be happy to lose more weight, but I'm fighting to stay where I'm at. My BMI is still almost 31, still in the obese category. It sure beats the 48 I started at. I've been where I am for months, too.
I hope you get some encouragement from these posts. I bet most of us think you have done an awesome job to get to where you are. I hope you can look a little more on the "glass half full" side!
