Just Got Accepted. Looking for advice and information!
Its amusing to me your surgery date is my birthday - that would be nice I am trying to keep positive. I am afraid to get hopeful - I don't know why though, they figured my iron wasn't where it needed to be because (even though it was a positive thing****pt my scheduled appointment to donate blood without thinking - which will drop your iron levels. I suppose its easier to believe it wont happen then be let down again.
I just heard from my clinic - my iron levels are at 85 so I am green lighted to go ahead. I am going for diet teaching this Friday. I have an appointment for next Friday with my family doctor to do my history and physical. They told me that at the end of this Friday's diet teaching my name will be passed to the surgeon and I should have my appointment with him within 6 weeks. Apparently my surgery should be before Christmas. Once things start moving they just hit high gear
It is very exciting indeed. The program has vastly changed since its inception in 2010, and may I add for the better. So many things that I never knew about before but am well versed in now.
It took me a year and two weeks to get to the surgery.
I started a Manitoba Forum here as I don't need for everyone on facebook to know my business.
Please feel free to join up. I started it back in 2010 when I was accepted to have a VSG.
On September 28 2016, I had a revision to RNY and am feeling fabulous.
Am trying to organize a get together in Winnipeg, for those of us who would like to meet and talk.
Good luck on this incredible journey
