Just Referred

Well, my family doctor called yesterday and said that they received letter letting them know that I have been accepted into the program. Now have to start the waiting game. 

They told me that the waiting list is lengthy and it could be up to two years. At least the process has begun. 

Does it really take that long for everyone?

Unfortunately yes that is how long the waiting list is.   They are currently working on referrals from the end of 2012.  It will likely be at least two years before you get called for orientation and another several months afterward before surgery.....but as you said at least the process has begun!

Hope it goes well for you. Don't put all your eggs in one basket as I did.I went through the program and 2 days after I finished the craving changes I was told I was too old.

At the seminar I went to the nurse did say that will not accept anyone into the program over 60 yrs old ( I think) as due to the wait they don't want people to wait too long and then not fit the age criteria.  So, hopefully that will not happen to anyone else, sorry it happened to you bjane.

Yes, it is definitely seeming to take awhile. I was accepted in Sept. 2013, and have not heard a word of anything else since then. I was hoping to at least have things started with workshops or dietician appts by now, but no luck. :(

Thanks for the replies. Although I am not overly excited about the wait, I have been up and down weight wise for over 30 years. I am 48 now, and can wait my turn. Will be a life changing thing. 

i was accepted in march 2013 and i just now received a letter telling me about an orientation (later this month). considering my doctor actually put in the referral in november 2012, i'd say 2 years is probably a good estimate. i'm not sure what my date will be but hopefully late this year or early next. i'll let you know!
