March 3 is my date!

I saw the surgeons Monday and have my date less than a month from now. I'm so excited and nervous.

I just found this forum and am reading lots of the local posts as I feel this will help me through the process.

I was o****il the day of surgery.  I was nervous THE DAY OF but I can honestly tell you it was the best decision I have ever made. 

Everyone at the clinic is supportive and available to answer any questions or concerns you have.  This forum is helpful - just be careful with some of the information out there in the wonderful world of cyber space - not all of it is accurate.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery...so very exciting! How long was your wait time? I have been waiting for a call now for 1 year(March 20,2013)...I am very anxious for my surgery.

Hi Cara, I believe my GP referred me back in Jan or Feb. It's been a pretty eventful year so the time has jus flew by!

I'm nervous still but excited for the surgery to be completed and to get back to 'normal' (the new normal).

Hey Canadian...A big thank you responding so quickly...I "get" you when you say new normal. I'm sure the wait and all that goes with it has been very eventful...sadly time is not flying by so quickly for me. But hearing you were refered (hoping I understand this correctly Jan.2013 was your acceptance) this gives me Great hope.

i called the other day to the doctors office to ask about wait times again. I was referred in Jan 2013. I was told it would be years. I am so confused by all this . Some people seem to not have to wait as long . I wonder what is different for some ? Maybe different medical issues?

Wait times vary, accordingly to the " who' what' and why.. Someone *****quires the surgery for medical reasons moves ahead of someone with lesser medical .. If that makes any sense...

It does make sense to me that people with medical issues would be bumped up sooner but I specifically asked this question to the lady who called me back and she said this wasn't the case. Nothing ever seems very clear - even when you finally get a call back. I talked to the lady whom returned my call for quite awhile and she was quite adamant that it goes by referral date and nothing else. Oh well, still happy for those that get in earlier and can get started on their journey !!!
