Hi Karen. I'm doing pretty good, on solids now. Finding out what I can tolerate and what I can't. Broccoli is off the menu for now except for soup. Christmas dinner went down alright yesterday but I did have the (going to use a technical term here) the 'slimmies' on Christmas Day when I either overate or ate too fast. It might have been the broccoli too.

Anyway, it was no fun! But I'm alright now. I'm getting plenty of protein each day but the calcium citrate is a bummer. Not to mention the meds I need to take besides the vitamins and supplements. Little bit concerned about taking in enough water.

Haven't weighed myself since Edmonton but I was done 13 lbs after the surgery. I think I look narrower thru the shoulders. (or else my head is getting bigger!) I can't wait to start swimming again - about 3 weeks or so.

How are you doing? Are you meeting your protein needs through real food or MRDs or protein powders, etc. The Alberta program stresses real food and I'm more than meeting my protein needs. (I had a VSG so I don't have the restrictions of a RNY)

Glad you are doing so well. I am now down 25lbs since the morning of surgery 6 weeks ago. I had 1 episode of eating a couple of bites too much last week and lets just say lesson learned and I am being more careful. I usually have a protein drink for breakfast and the rest of the day I have food. Still doing phase 3 but have tried a few things and have had no problems with anything so far.

My coworkers say everytime they see me I look different so I imagine they will notice a difference after a 2 week Christmas break. I am finding thing easier although by the end of the day I am tired. I am getting all my protein in and my vitamins and supplements. My gp took me off my metformin and blood pressure meds the week after surgery and my sugars are good and my bp was 128/78 today so he was very happy. I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week to walk and hopefully after I see the surgeon on the 3rd I can start doing some light weights. I am hoping to book some time with the personal trainer so I am on the right path.

I hope I get to meet you at the next meet and greet. Of course for me that means weather permitting...

Sounds like you are doing well. Glad to hear! What is a slimmie??? I think I know this to mean eating and that ugly feeling we get if we eat too much or too fast. I too can't wait to get working out again also. I am starting a body sculpting class mid January. It should be a good workout for a an hour each week. Keep up the good work!

'Slimmie' is the word TL gave me for the what happens when you get too much saliva production in your mouth/esophagus when either over eating or too fast or maybe something getting stuck because you didn't chew enough. Its so much saliva and it hurts to swallow (adding to the contents of your pouch I presume) so you have to spit it out.

I think that is the perfect term! I've only done that once and don't want to do it again...

Beautiful message Sondra and great advice.  Keep em coming, we need your know how.  I now know to watch for signs of being full like my nose starting to run.  This helps me realize I am full when I don't  otherwise know.  Thank you, and I hope you had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year too.
