ARe there any hotels that are within walking distance to the Victoria Hospital? My husband is planning on staying overnight and is not a Winnipeg driver. He was hoping to just park the van at the hospital and walk to a hotel.

Canadinn Fort Gary is about 2km away. Nice clean hotel. If the walk is too long or cold there if is just a quick cab ride or even a city bus ride. 

montcalm motor inn is right beside the vic. never stayed there so don't know if its any good. :)

Hubby tried to phone the Montcalm last night and the number didn't work. I read somewhere online that it was closing so I will check it out when I am in for my pre op diet session this afternoon.

That's what my cousin said to. He found a room at the Queen Bee which is a little north of the hospital. It was about a 2 minute drive so the walk shouldn't be too bad unless it is really windy.

Not sure if this is true or not but heard a rumor that holiday inn on pembina offers a reduced price for Vic hospital patients / family's. worth calling and asking about. Again not sure if. True or not

Thanks for the info. I know alot of hotels near hospitals do offer a reduced rate for families. Brian has booked into the Queen Bee as he can park the van at the hospital and leave it there. He really hates driving in the city that much...
