What's the Reason?

Trying to figure out why you're not supposed to drink for periods of time before or after nor at the same time as eating.   I can see for me this will be a hard habit to overcome.  The things I've come up with are.......... you don't want to fill your pouch pre meal......during meal may cause food to pass through too quickly .....after may sit on a full pouch and cause you to throw up.    Am I even in the ballpark?  :)

Check out Frisco's explaination of the Pyloric Valve on the VSG forum. He explains it well.

Dr Ponce de Leon Mexico     VSG 4 Jun 12. I lost 57 lbs on my own before having a VSG. This is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.

The truth is the pouch only holds so much and you want to fill it with protein, no****er or liquids. I thought it would be hard but really it isn't. I am 5 months post op and now I do have at times so small tiny sips of water during a meal. Some foods are so dry otherwise.

The reason they do not want you drinking is because with the RNY you have a pouch and it does not hold liquid, it goes right through. When you drink with meals it flushes the food through faster thus making you eat more. Personally I drink with my meals because I get a very upset pouch if I don't and it never slowed my weight loss. Not sure if the reason is the same with VSG.
