To tell or not to tell that is the question?

Trish don't worry you will be fine are you having the band, sleeve or gastric.  you will feel better in a matter of 3 months.   did they  tell you you had to lose 10% of your weight b4 you have it done my doc did.  There are things to be careful of. one is becoming a shopaholic once you lose a lot of weight you tend to go crazy buying new clothes.  keep those elastic pants  i still wear some of mine some days.   i went crazy which I was told was not unusual. now I only buy a few new things and go to consignment stores or second hand place, i dont  work so I dont need work clothes  . i still buy a few "new" things but I am far more now.  over eating it is very painful, and eating too fast. and trying like crazy to ger all the fluid down that you need.

I have told everybody..family, friends, coworkers, and I have not met with one ounce of negativity.  I actually have found that when people find out, they are quite interested to know more about the surgery.  Unless a person has walked a mile in my shoes or in the shoes of anyone who has had a lifelong struggle with weight, then they have no right to comment or judge.

I told who every wanted to know. I didn't hide it from anyone. I figure if they are going to judge me for it then oh well; they must have been judging me before as well. I got help and the surgery because someone shared their experiences with me; and that person saved my life; so I figure I needed to pull up my big girl panties and share my experience; it might make the difference to someone else. That is just me and how I felt. You do what is right for you - because at the end of the day it will be whatever it takes for you to be successful.

Only my husband, my sister-in-law (who came to Mexico with me when I had my surgery) and my immediate supervisor at work knew before I had my surgery. I didn't want a bunch of discussion going on before I had the surgery. It was my decision and I didn't need anybody else giving me their opinion. Once my weight loss was noticeable and people commented on it, I told them how I was losing weight. I got nothing but support from anyone I told. Everyone was happy for me.  At that point, I didn't care what anyone said or thought anyway.

Hi There,

I wasn't planning on telling anyone just in case I failed and gained it back.  However, I figured that that was just another crutch for me.  I was really good at justifying weight gain and being very sneaky with food and no exercising.  I made the decision to blog about my journey and be brutally honest, because I knew that for me, and for me only....being accountable to someone other than myself would be my key to success.  So far it's working and I have so much support from friends new and old and it does wonders for the way the mind plays tricks as well.  It's keeping me honest and frankly, it gets me to the gym on those mornings when it's the last thing I feel like doing.  Which is happening less and less now, thankfully.

Everyone is different though...ths is what is working for me at the moment.
