stuck on carbs

I'm so stuck on carbs, it's not even funny.. How does one eat healthy when you don't have the desire to cook or the motivation to cook. Today for instance I had a bowl of rice crispies with a banana and brown sugar and 1%milk. @ work I had 3 small pieces of bread that I had used yesterday to make French toast, had that with some beacel nothing else. I had bowl of grapes. and just a bit of salad, as it didn't taste too good. That was my food for the day. I had 2 large glasses of water with Mio in it. Now I'm at home and I'm starving.. I work the evening shift so i find when i get home i am usually hungry. So again, i go to carbs 2 pieces of left over pizza. I know not good, not good at all.. But how can i change my way of eating to eat healthier without too much effort? My depression has increased over the last few days as well.. Does anyone know of a good site that is private for blogging? about anything and everything? especially at night when my mind starts to go.. i should probably sit down and get it all out, perhaps i would sleep better at night!?
hi trish,
the is blogging avalible on here.you can set it so that no one can read your post other than you if thats what you want.also google+ is a good site.
dont be so hard on yourself.you are making the effort to change your eating habits.you understand that what you are eating is not great.you can and will be allowed to eat carbs after surgery.you just need to understand which ones are the correct carbs.I still eat bread just in alot smaller amounts.i have found a protien bread that tatse pretty good.so that balances out the carbs and protien.you need to have some carbs in your diet.as for the pizza just eat the toppings(thats what i do)Keep nuts with you so when the craving monster rears you can have some.up your water intake.it sounds like you are not getting enough nutrition from the amount and items you are eating.grab a wendys or tims chili if you dont want to cook,we tend to eat those alot because its mostly protien and no extra crap in there.
Im sorry that your depression is up again.please know that we are here for you .

Hi Trish
Have you checked out some canned soups (Campbell's Chunky) or frozen meals? I know a lot of those are very high in sodium and maybe not the best choices, but possibly better than the choices you are making now. All you need to do is heat the food in the microwave. Campbell's Chunky Beef 284 mL can is 170 cal, 9 g of protein. You could also try protein bars. I have Detour from Costco which taste pretty good. One bar has 180 cal & 15 g of protein. No prep involved, just open the wrapper! You can take them anywhere to eat any time. These options may be more expensive, but you would get a little better nutrition than you seem to be getting now. How about pre-cut veggies or fruit? Precooked chicken chunks in a package? Even turkey/chicken sandwich meat? Also more expensive, but easy and quick. And eggs...you could hard boil half a dozen and keep them in the fridge to eat whenever you needed.
I completely sympathize with your feelings of not wanting to cook and grabbing the easiest thing you can find. It sounds like you don't have anyone else to cook for. If I was on my own, I'd probably never cook. I'm also a carb addict. Fortunately, like Newfie says, you can't eat as much after surgery.
