Update on Meet and Greet thread...
Mike, I appreciate your attempt to organize a spot and time. I unfortunately never make a firm commitment to attend as I have a special needs child and sometimes best laid plans get waylaid if he is having a bad day and Dad isn't home to watch him.
That being said, if there is a Meet and Greet put together, I would try to attend. I am more likely to attend on a weekend and before the snow flies as I hate highway driving in the winter.
That's reasonable, I understand as I work in Special Education and know how difficult it can be to get respite. ( another bariatric patient asked me to do respite for her when she learned this but unfortunately I'm on LTD and not allowed to work anywhere).
I don't know what's happening with a Meet and Greet. I'm now waiting for others to decide. If some want to meet then I'll do my best to attend - it just depends upon when and where. I blocked off August 28th evening for such as that was bandied about but nothing has transpired.
Anyways got to get back to my housework, a friend is coming over so I want to clean up, mow the lawn and make Borscht.
I am good with saturday or most evenings next week, there had been talk of the 28th so I have kept that open. I would like to do coffee before my surgery on the 4th. I dont like downtown because of parking. I will drive most anywhere tho as long as there is good parking and some place for me to shop later. kj
OK Smitty's back dining room on Pembina in Fort Richmond (same place as last) this Wednesday, August 28th 6 PM to 8 PM. Its in my name Mike from the WLS.
Hopefully more than 3 people will show up. Besides what ever folks want to discuss, we can try to talk about location, days or evenings, weekdays or weekends and some consensus on what we want in a location: privacy, costs, food, coffee, parking, etc.
Trish - I know this doesn't work for you, but as in my PM I can meet with you on Saturday given the timelines I outlined.
Never met the lady.
Its nothing to do with whether I like someone or not - its about supporting each other on this journey.
I get a lot of support from my bariatric team in Edmonton, the Weight Wise program staff in Edmonton, my doctor here and the staff at the clinic he works at, my physiotherapist (she is a godsend) plus a dietician I sometimes see here in Winnipeg. And of course my friends (I have no family left).
But I need support from folks who either have had surgery or are on the BARIATRIC journey as they really understand what its about.
And yes I can be tenacious sometimes lol!
