what to expect?

You can try contacting your regional Health Authority/public health about Craving Change. I am from Portage and they do not offer it here. Brandon has started offering it but my understanding was their fall session was full. Youville Health Centre also offers it but I had nothing but problems trying to get in there, sent everything they asked for and they sent me back to Portage that doesn't offer the program.

I was told if you do take it somewhere else to get a letter stating that you have completed the course for the Bariatric Clinic.

Congrats on being accepted in to the program, and welcome to the forum.i can not comment on the process as it has completely changed from when i went through it but some things have stayed the same.you will be on a special boost diet right before your surgery.you will have to meet with the nutrionist and shrink.

you will be givien very strict instructions for pre and post surgery.

i would start using my fitnesspal or app like that to help you keep track of your calories and water consumption.start cutting the bad stuff out slowly so that you will be able to easy into your new lifestyle.

do not go out and buy a bunch of protein powders and supllies before surgery as your tastebuds will change after and you will have wasted all that money on things that you dont like anymore.

we usually have a meet and greet once amonth and do a clothing swap.that way getting clothes that fit as not hard on the wallet as some days you will drop sizes like crazy.

sorry for such a long post.if you have any other questions please feel free to PM me and i will answer asap

My group meeting was also in April. I met with the team in July. I meet with the nurse, kinesiologist, and dietician in Oct. The wait is the hardest part of the whole thing until you actually go on the  pre-op diet. The team tells you exactly what they want from you.

Thanks Dawn - that gives me an idea on timelines. Will your date be scheduled at your October meeting?

As long as I meet my goals the team set out for me then I will meet with the surgeons and get a date. Times/waits vary, the whole program is a work in progress. They used to book follow up meetings 2 months apart but they found more people were successful when given 3 months to meet the goals.
