???? Heartburn but not sure
I am 7 weeks post op and just this week started to have some ???? Heartburn. It starts in my throat and at times moves to my stomach I think. Today I went back to blander foods hoping this might do the trick. Any suggestions??? Just don't feel as good as I have the previous 3 weeks! I started riding my bike and I know this sounds ridiculous but it's funny how it started when I began riding my bike for exercise. It isn't a constant thing and in fact, it occurs later at night than any other time of the day. You post-opers, any suggestions would help! Thanks!

I have alot of heartburn, and If memory serves me well, it started around that time. it can be like traditional-chest-on-fire heartburn or sometimes it is kinda like a "pressure". I also used to think it was hunger pains (but it would happen shortly after I ate so I knew it wasn't that) I tried using an antacid and it all went away. I was given a script for Nexium in case I did get any reflux but apparently my Blue Cross doesn't cover it and it was $90/month - yeesh! I tried Zantac and voila! it works fine. I take one in the morning and one in the evening. It used to wake me up at night really bad, I try not to take too many Tums but I do have some on my sidetable just in case.
Thanks for the info and do you think I should be contacting someone from the clinic or the surgeon or my family doctor. Prior to surgery, I was on a stomach medication but it was stopped post op. Today I have no heartburn or acid reflux whatever the heck it is. Was out washing my windows and went for a bike ride. Nothing at all. Have been eating some protein every couple of hours though also. Thanks again, let me know if you think I should contact. Someone. Doesn't seem to be something to call someone about. I see the surgeon in a week and a half. My appointment was postponed so it will be 8 weeks post op. I also see the nutritionist and kinesiologist on August 12. We leave for an Alaska cruise on August 19. Don't want any problems.
Thanks for the info. I always believe those that have had the surgery can offer the best information. Funny though that since I posted on Tuesday I haven't had anything further. I haven't been eating anything different. Haven't changed my exercises so I will wait to see. I also haven't had any coffee or tea since the 2nd week after surgery. I loved coffee before but I felt it could cause me some problems. I will keep an eye on it though and should it come back I will be sure to call and get something for it. Prior to surgery I was on something for acid reflux. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.
