I wasn't able to get a spot in the plastics meeting, could you kindly fill me in on what I missed?

It would be appreciated.

Enjoy the sun!

It's too bad you didn't get a spot to go. I managed to get in at the last minute when someone that had signed up couldn't make it. They could have fit several more people in that room, it certainly wasn't filled to capacity.

A plastic surgeon spoke the entire time, while showing a power-point presentation. She went over the different types of plastic surgery for bariatric patients, showing very graphic photos. Lots of before and after shots and lots of pics from the operating table. Some were rather gruesome...a few people had to look away. I found the photos rather intriguing. She talked about everything from the different incisions, to elasticity in the skin, healing times et. Did you know that for most plastics, it's simply day surgery....and several procedures can be done at one time. IE - breasts and tummy. She talked a little bit about breast augmentation....the difference between saline and sal****er implants. Apparently saline feels more real, but they have to be replaced every ten years. You can live to be 100 with sal****er implants. We saw lots of pics of deflated boobs. She explained with a breast lift how they can take tissue from under your breasts, move it upwards making a very perky new set without implants. We saw pictures of a formerly 600 lb women have her 100 lb panni removed. That was one big panni! She talked about surgery on the arms, explaining that the incision is made in such a way that when your arms are at your side, the scar is not noticable from the front or rear. She also showed a pic of a less-than-perfect arm surgery where the scar was visible from the rear...and it wasn't attractive.

She took a few questions from people. She talked briefly on having your doctor refer you to a plastic surgeon. How a panniculectomy may be covered by MB Health but if you want an abdominalpasty you probably have to pay extra out of your own pocket. All in all It was a good presentation.
