How scary is it to eat after Week 1 or fluids only?

Congrats on Surgery !!! i am now 5 weeks post op and im still scared of trying anything new lol I would just follow the booklet you got start there and go slow . I did Broth adding protein power to it and to my coffee ,i still add protien to my coffee every morning and night .. If you have questions dont hesitate to also call the clinic thats what they are there for they only want to help us .Make sure you get fluids and as much protien in as you can tolerate , dont force things . Starting food freaked me out too and like i said i still am freaked out .
I felt really good with shakes and yogurt, puddings with protein powder... You may not feel as much restriction until you add non liquidy things.... measure and take it easy with stuff like cottage cheese, and yogurt , puddings etc. go slow and listen to your body. If you do well on those things then add soft or pureed foods. Chew chew chew.
I remember fantasizing about real food. For me it was chicken breast in a crock pot with mushroom soup and eggs.
a scrambled egg was my first non liquidy food and I was super constipated and impacted that day ( 2 weeks after my surgery according to my plan) and went to a movie with my step daughter ( had the egg in the morning) and drank some of her iced tea. and was soooo sick. I think it was the combination of the sweet liquid and iced tea but I spent the next 4 hours puking violently. I still can't handle sweet liquids ( not a bad thing really - shouldn't be having them) and got so weird about eggs for months and months ( weird association)
Follow the plan , add food slowly and chew once you have something to chew.
Eggs bothered me before surgery (actually since I had my gallbladder out 40 years ago) so I think I'll hold off on them for a while. Did you follow their week by week food plan quite honestly after surgery?
I agree the more solid the food, the more we chew.
You talk about soft or puree food - like what???? would you consider these?
I was anxious too but I tried things slowly, and like feeding a baby new foods, if it goes well, great! If not, try it again in a week or so. As foods get thicker, eat slower and as they get more solid, chew more. 30 seconds between bites is a great thing to follow so you don't get in too much. And as soon as you feel full, STOP!
