Day 1.
HI! I'm home! Surgery went 100% perfect according to Dr. Andrews! Can't say I feel like a million bucks, but a couple hundred thousand maybe! I feel a lot better than I was expecting to feel, that's for sure.
Surgery was at 11 am yesterday, so I was pretty much out of it for the rest of the day. I don't recall much before, say, 6pm. I didn't have a great night's sleep cause they were pumping me with fluids so much I had to pee every hour, almost on the hour and the exact same amount too! (they measure it for the first night). The staff at the Vic were simply amazing! Dr. Andrews and his assistant were AMAZING. Very thorough and answered all my questions!
Just sore now. Have some t 3's to tie me over for a few days. Oh yes, and Jello. My new best friend!
Just wondering how things are going today? Hopefully you are slowly starting to feel better. How are the liquids going down? As I haven't had surgery yet, just wondering what you are consuming now that you are back home. I'm on Day 4 of Boost and can tell you that Boost isn't my favourite drink. Looking forward to other choices post op. Take care and hope you are feeling better as each day passes by.
I am finding the Boost better as the week has worn on. Starting day 7 now. I drink the Boost at room temperature and like it better that way. Saw your sore throat info - hope it subsides quickly. Otherwise you seem to be slowly moving along. How much fluids are you taking down in 24 hours? They say muscle spasms are common after abdominal surgery. Feel better as each day comes and so happy to hear how you are doing! We don't get a lot of feedback so good to know how someone is doing post-op especially since I am a week away from surgery now.
As I enter Day 9 of Boost only, today is a day that I have actual hunger pains. Not a nice feeling. What kinds of fluids are you drinking? How are you getting your protein requirement? Just wondering - not being snoopy? Something I think about for next week after surgery! Glad to hear you are feeling not bad - the weakness will slowly decrease I think as you are able to consume more. Congrats and keep up the good work!
