My Update

Hi everybody.

Just wanted to let you know how I've been doing. I am two weeks out and am -17.  Things have gone very smoothly, minimal discomfort after procedure (the nurses were absolutely amazing at the hospital), wounds have healed all up, i can comfortably lay on my side  and I have started pureed stage.

I had the conception that I was going to be really really "full" after eating small amounts of food. My mom had this done ages ago and she felt like she was going to explode after eating that amount of food. Well of course I expected the same thing, but it takes just between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of food for me to feel "full".

I am eating around 450 calories a day and getting about 30 grams of protein. I know I need more protein and am working at it. But to do this I will have to up my calories and I am "scared" to do so. What is an appropriate amount for me at this time? It is recommended between 600-800 by my program. Just wondering if this coincides with yours.

I have been walking 10-15 minutes a day. I understand I have to get in more exercise but as of right now I am back to work and have eleven hour shifts 10 in a row then four days off so I am still trying to figure in how to increase my activity.

I'm getting in about 4 cups of water and am working on increasing my goal.

Any recipe ideas for pureed stage would be appreciated!

Have a good day

:)

It sounds like you are doing great!  You do have to get the protein and calories up but don't try too fast.  Slow and steady. If you don't eventually get the calories in, you will stop losing weight because your body will think you are starving and will start storing.  I'm over 4 months and I'm still working on getting in 1000 - 1200 calories per day.

Walking is the only exercise you can really do for the first month.  After a month I could go to the gym and start where I left off with weights, eleptical, tredmill and zumba.  As long as I wasn't in any pain.
