YAY!
I had my follow up appointment with the team and they were satisfied with everything I've accomplished so my next step is surgery!!! I was told I should hear from Andrea within a week or so to set a date and have already scheduled my appointment to get all the pre-op / early post op information. I'm so excited!!
I let my boss know that I would be having surgery in the next little while and would need some time off, he's fine with that so I'm not worried but I'm wondering how long I should be off, I'm thinking in the 3-4 week range, even though the team suggests 4-6. Do you think that's sufficient? I don't have a back up person to do my work while I'm gone so the sooner I'm back the better but I want to make sure I'm healthy and safe too.
Hi
What type of work do you do? Which surgery are you having?
I have a desk job and took three weeks off. I wish I had taken four. I had my surgery in Mexico and they pretty much left the decision up to me, but suggested at least three weeks. I think lots of others on here would also suggest four. If you have a strenuous job, then you should probably take six.

Hi Angie!
I remember a previous post about struggling with your weight loss goal they set for you? How did that turn up? reason why I ask is that my two month pre-op follow up is approaching, and I have lost minimal weight (so curious how that will affect my date)
Wow!!! You must be mega mega excited!
What is involved with your pre-op/post op information?
Yeah I was struggling but ate super clean and did as much exercise as I could, I didn't lose the whole amount they wanted but I actually ended up being really close to it and they were satisfied with that. I haven't had my pre/post -op meeting yet so I have no idea what's involved, I think they just go over the boost diet and talk about the first few days or so after surgery but again I'm not sure.
I recommend 4 weeks as well. That's what I had and my recovery was extremely good with no complications. I was tired out at the end of each day at a desk job. 2 weeks later I was back to normal and 3 of 5 days my job has me on my feet for about 6 hours. Feeling great! Maybe at 3 weeks you could do part days if you really feel you need to be there. Best wishes!
I am self employed so no work = no pay for me. I went back just shy of 3 weeks after surgery. I had no complications and was discharged after a day and a half. I felt good but played out very quickly. I scheduled myself very lightly for the first 2 weeks back and did find it a bit of a struggle, everyone commented on how tired I looked and I did crash as soon as I got home for the first week back for sure. I think the 4 weeks would be good but would strongly reccomend by week 2 that you are getting up and as active as you can be to build up to going back. You'll be surprised by how quickly you tire out even when you are feeling pretty good. Good luck!
