Too funny Barb, But I was thinking the same thing..what's wrong with canned click, I like it too!

And yes, I am like Rainyone. I am 7 months post VSG and am not limited to any foods. I eat the same way I used to ,just less. I do try to stay away from the junk foods, and if I do eat them, will limit myself because, like Rainyone said, they go down REAL EASY and don't fill you up quick like real food does. I am noticing every new week, that I am starting to eat more and more. I am still loosing, so Am not concerned that I am eating too much. For breakfast, I usually have oatmeal or one of those quaker shredded wheat muffets things, with either 1/2 banana or blueberries. for lunch I try to get in some protein and will have a tuna sandwhich. If I eat a whole sandwhich, That is all I eat and maybe a piece of fruit a few hours later for a snack. If I have some mini carrots or yogurt at lunch, then I can only eat 1/2 a sandwhich.. For supper, I always get in some dense protein whether it be chicken, fish, beef and usually about 3-4 ounces. Fish, I eat more as it does not fill me up as much. I always have some sort of vegetables, about 1 cup and try to limit the rice or potatoes to 1/4 cup. I always have a glass of milk and a bran muffin later. Lately, with all the Christmas baking and chocolates, I have also been bad and have been eating a few of those every night too, BUT am stopping at a few and not eating the whole box! I just signed up and started a Jazzercise class, so hopefully that will compensate for those bad habits. I don't drink enough, probably only getting about 6 glasses of liquids a day. I also try to keep track on MyFitnessPal and am averaging about 1,200-1,400 calories which is within my proper range. I only have 15 pounds more to loose and then I will be on maintenance . My weight has hardly shifted at all the past few months, maybe a pound a week if lucky, but given that I eat normally , healthy most days and just less, and am still loosing slowly, shows me that overall, the sleeve is still doing it's job and I don't need to freak out every time I have eaten a chocolate. I am going to start moving more again too so that will help. Just get a good variety of everything in your diet : fruits, vegetables, dense protein and carbs limited but not eliminated, and throw some protein powder in things like soups or sauces or milk to add a little more protein your diet will be quite healthily and within the right numbers. I have always eaten quite healthy, just ate WAY TOO MUCH, so now with my sleeve limiting the portion control, things are great and I couldn't be happier with the results. Barb C

Rainy & Barb, I am very glad to read your responses!! I was beginning to think I was the only one who was back eating a pretty much "normal" diet, just less of everything. My surgery was 11 months ago. I have read posts on other parts of this forum where people are what I would call fanatical, trying to stick to 500-600 calories a day months out from surgery.

To answer Angie's question, I've been eating regular meals for many months, just less of everything.

For breakfast on work days I have 125 g or so of Greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop (sometimes a full scoop) of protein powder (usually vanilla) mixed in and a small dollop of jam and peanut butter. Frozen fruit is good, too, or fresh. I find it's better to let the yogurt & protein powder sit for a while to dissolve the granules in the protein powder. Depending on what flavour I want, I will also add some sugar-free syrup or/or use flavoured protein powder. (Costco's Kirkland Greek yogurt 3-pack tubs are way cheaper than any others I've found and taste just as good, but I don't like it plain.)

Lunch is usually raw veggies or salad and some shrimp (really high protein/low cal), an egg, chicken, a few slices of sandwich meat, tuna, salmon...etc. or Chunky Soup or supper leftovers. I am on a parmesan cheese kick. We've been buying a big container of real shaved parmesan at Costco. 30 g has 120 calories & 8 g of protein. I add that to my veggies or salad and a small amount of regular salad dressing.

Supper is meat of some sort (chicken, steak, pork chop, ham) 4-5 oz or so, some potatoes and veggies.  Last night we had Hamburger Helper - double the amount of hamburger to increase the protein and lower the amount of carbohydrates - with onions and red peppers added.

The Christmas junk was bad, although much less than I would have eaten in the past. My hubby is a potato chip addict and I unfortunately eat those far more often than I should. I'll also have a piece of toast with peanut butter in the evenings sometimes. I have no issues at all with bread, toasted or not, but try not to eat too much of it. The only thing that has caused me any stomach discomfort was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios with milk a month or so ago. It seems many people become lactose intolerant at least temporarily (my nutritionist mentioned this) but I thought I was past that. Ice cream is fine.

I am not drinking enough water and really need to try to increase that. I'm not thirsty, so I just don't think of it, even though the glass full of water is always sitting right within arm's reach on my desk. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day.

I have been at pretty much the same weight for about three months. I don't exercise at all...no time with two jobs, plus I've never been motivated or interested in exercise. Maybe some day!

Hi Folks,  I haven't been around much the last month...crazy busy at work then a short holiday and I like to digitally unplug for a while at this time of year.

My days are like this:

7:30  1/2 cup multigrain cheerios dry with 1/3 cup of berries

8:30  coffee

9:30  1 scoop of click and 1/2 scoop of chocolate protein powder mixed with 1 cup 2% milk and lots of ice

10:30 coffee

noon  tinned fish ( either on individual size can or 1/3 of a reg. can ) with 1Tbsp of lowfat miracle whip, some veggies and about 6-8 multigrain wheat thins.  If I don't do fish I will have 2-3 oz of deli cooked ham, chicken or turkey.  Or I have supper left overs as well.  I often now will have a bowl of homemade soup or low fat tinned soup

1: 00 coffee

3:30 - 4  babybel cheese, yogurt or peanut butter and apple, or boiled egg ( this snack is critical for me, if I don't get protein in at this time I am really too hungry when I am making supper and graze till I can't eat my supper - super *****y too! )

6:30  2-3 oz of meat ( chicken, pork or beef & sometimes fish )  some kind of sauce or gravy, 3/4 c salad or 1/3 c cooked veg and maybe 1 tbsp of potato and very occasionally 1/4 cup of brown rice.

Now after supper is my tough time.  I snack too much on those little packs of juice jelly snacks (welches I think they are) or some kind of nuts or fruit or Special K cracker chips.

10 pm  cheese or fruit and tea

Some days are better than others still but really pretty good most days.  I have found I can tolerate allot more sugar than I had hoped I would be able to.   Especially if I space it out about 30 minutes....not good to know this! surprise But I do try to keep a handle on it.  My weight loss has really slowed down now, I'm at 80 lbs lost and 4 clothing sizes.  Now a true 16 pant and L - XL top and loving it.  Trying to get back into the aquasize classes and my elliptical at home but it is a struggle.  Also I get very little water in now and will be working on improving that.

Thanks everyone.  It's comforting to know that it's basically good healthy meals/snacks in just lower quantity.  It something I'm looking forward and something he can do as well.  However now I'm wondering about the water aspect since most of you have said it's hard to get the water in everyday.  I currently drink TONS of water, I sip and gulp it all day long.  I know that I can only sip after the surgery but why is it hard to get the water in?

At first it is because your capacity was low. It feels like all you do is eat and drink when you are first out to get a few oz in. I was about at week 3 before I could get my fluids in consistently.

I have no issues getting my water/fluids in . I mostly drink crystal light and coffee these days. I love love love coffee now. It was diet pepsi before. I still miss diet pepsi... sigh but I know I can't have it. Was totally addicted to it and was not great for me. Coffee takes some effort either to go get it or make it and I'm also lazy lol.  I don't subscribe to the myth that coffee dehydrates. I know it doesn't hydrate as well as other fluids but it doesn' t dehydrate.  I wouldn't say I gulp but I do drink pretty quickly now.

They also suggest you wait 30 minutes after a meal to drink again. I was used to drinking during my meals so that cuts down on a lot of fluids., I also think that many of us had issues drinking enough fluids before the surgery too.

I have never been any good at drinking large amounts of water and usually drank it mostly at mealtime.  So now that I can't drink and eat, and I too have gotten my coffee taste back I now tend to get most of my fluids in the form of coffee and tea.  I do find that I feel like I drink allot during the day or more so that I am always drinking.  If we head to the city I have a coffee or tea with me and usually have to stop for refills while I am doing errands.  I wake up thirsty at times too and would love to chug a glass of water....sipping just doesn't do it.  But I do take a glass to the bedroom and try to sip away at it.
