who went to winnipeg?

There are actually quite a few people on here that were done in Winnipeg, I think alot of them just haven't been on with the holidays. I am waiting to go to Winnipeg...

So have you already been approved?  I did get approved but haven't heard nothing since. Just waiting and doing my best at excerise and eating better. WAy better!!

I had my referral sent in Feb of 2011 and was put on the waiting list for when the criteria was expanded. I am still waiting for that to happen but I have been working hard to get my BMI down to the 47 and am almost there. I am hopeful that I will have my surgery in Winnipeg this year(2013) .

there have been about 300ish of us who have had it done in winnipeg.alot of people do not know about this site.they are just learning about it from those of us who go to the meeting at the hospital.

the doctors were doing 2 a day twice a week for the past 2 years so there are lots of post ops.

There are meetings? Are the meetings just for post -op or for who ever?

the meetings at the vic are for patients currently in program both pre and post op.we also have meet and greets(coffeeor what ever)for those who went elsewhere to have surgery.we are open to who ever wants to come with the understanding that they are doing this journey also.we are here for encouragement when you have good days and bad

I would love to go to one of those meetings!  Just I live in Brandon and you guys are all in Winnipeg? I work at the brha here in Brandon and work nights and some day shifts.. I do know that once I get my second letter giving me a date for pre-op and meetings etc....that I'll be taking medical leaves of absence for all those days so I can come there. I did find one person who lives here in Brandon. We are meeting up in the new year!

Maybe we can meet up sometime. I lived in Brandon my whole life until I moved to Portage la Prairie in 1991. I still come home to visit family.

Anyone else reading these posts have a surgery in Winnipeg? Please post your story. I just want to know what happen to you from start to finish. Information is soooo much better coming from someone who actually went through it. I am affraid of this surgery. Just want as much information as possible!
