pre op boost substitute
If I were you, I would absolutely ask. Print off the nutritional comparison of each one and ask the nutritionist to compare the two. The Premier Protein has almost twice as much protein and one-third the amount of carbohydrates. There are some surgeons whose preop diets would not even allow Diabetic Boost because of the high carbohydrates. I had my surgery in Mexico and was allowed to drink any protein shake as long as it was under 250 calories per serving, but I don't think Diabetic Boost would have made the cut with that many carbs. It certainly wasn't on the list of recommended protein shakes that I was provided with.
You have nothing to lose by asking and you could educate the nutritionist in the program about the other choices that are out there.

I agree that this is something to ask the dietitian. Also if you have time, buy a couple of cases a wee****il you have them all. That's how I managed, slipped it into the grocery cart and stocked up! The purpose of the boost is to shrink your liver to make it easier for the surgeon to get to your stomach. Variations of nutrients in the other product may not work as well. After surgery the choice of products you use opens up much more.
I also agree that you should ask the Dietician about any possible changes.
I know it might seem expensive, BUT Boost diabetic is cheaper than the Optifast they used to use for preop diet. I was the first to use Boost, since I have soy allergies. I used 4 a day and was happy to have 3 flavor choices. :) The Premier is probably too high in calories. The reason for the diet is to shrink our liver out of the way for surgery. The doctors have opened up 1 for sure and maybe 2 patients who did not do the diet properly and sent them home, WITHOUT surgery. Now that would suck..big time.
Look for coupons online, email Boost themselves and see if they have a coupon for trials. Good Luck and YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!!!!
