well its been  over 2 years since the program started and wow have there been changes.

when i started my journey we had to pay to see the dietitian150.00,for 3 visits

psychologist 50.00 one visit

medi trim 200.00 2 week supply for preop diet

now they are all included in program and the pre op diet consists of boost.

they have also added a fitness expert

now there are monthly meeting and they have opened up the criteria(from what i hear)

they now have a department at the vic hospital to see all of these consultants.

its wonderful that our program has evolved to what it is today.i expect that there will be more changes as the program grows in size and age.

i personally would love to see a counciller for the patients who has been through the program and understands what everyone is going through.

now manitoba health will cover a panni with approval but i would love to see a full tummy tuck covered.maybe by the time more people are at that stage they will cover more.

i wish the hospital would have more meals that are geared towards surgery patients both VSG and RNY

these are my thoughts and i just wanted to share with you

Sondra I totally think the program could use a patient advocat or someone who has been through it . * cough * cough... I wonder who would be AMAZING at it. You have so much enthusiasm and knowledge about this program and surgery. You would be perfect!

I know they are going to get better with more experience and I hope the province starts funding them properly. They need to do way more surgeries get through that wait list and on to some of the higher risk patients ( high bmi and more co morbidities , male etc)

oops....I never saw this post before I added another about anyone who has gone to winnipeg for surgery. haha!  How are you finding out so much info? I looked on line....asked my dr, and called the vic hospital and everyone is so un-helpful. I just want a general idea of how long before a consult after you get approved? I was approved for winnipeg in october but my letter just said I was approved. no dates for anything.  I wonder why that happens? I have friends who went to medicine hat and they said their letters came with a consult date.
