my update
I had a meeting with the team the other day, and it went very well. Everybody was very nice and supportive. They set goals with me,and if at my follow up appointment in two months I have made my progress, I could have my surgery date by february.
The goals we set:
-loose 12 lbs
-start taking my vitamins
-2 dairy products a day
-go to the Change program
-cut out pop.
I think its doable!
I have my meeting with the team scheduled for tomorrow. I already met with the surgeon so I'm nervous about this meeting. I really want to get going with this and change my life but worry their goals will be tough. I think your goals are great and know you can do it. Wish me luck, maybe we can do this together!!
When/where is the change program?
So I had my meeting and I have quite a few goals to work towards being:
- Lose 14 pounds
- Up my activity level to 45 min. 7 days a week
- Start taking vitamins (picked them up and started already!)
- Start craving change sessions (already booked)
- Increase fruits/veggie intake
- Stop drinking pop (diet coke)
I definitely think it's doable and some of them go hand and hand together (more veggies/less pop/more exercise = weight loss). My first craving change session is on Monday. So excited!
What is the Change program? Is this something you can do before your orientation?
Went to the Dr yesterday and still have 5 lbs to get to the 47 BMI. The nurse was awesome and is going to meet me at the end of her lunch break every 2nd Friday to weigh me so we can get my referral in asap. This is the referral for the current program as I am already on the waiting list for when the criteria expands. Really hoping to hit this before Christmas, so I can go to the first orientation in 2013.
I've been looking at the goals many of you have posted and noting the things I need to do as well.
Good luck!
Karen
I actually knew one of the goals was going to be lose weight so I started that hoping that I would have lost enough to mark that goal off already, not the case. When they see you there will definitely be a certain percentage of weight loss required. You can't join the change program until you've met with the team. It's a 4 session (normally over 2 months) group information to teach you more about why you eat the way you do, at least that's my understanding of it - my first one is tomorrow.
I am actually a little upset that after losing almost 50lbs to qualify for the current program, that they may require me to lose more. I feel that I have more than demonstrated that I am willing to put the work in to succeed. Guess I will have to wait and see what happens. All I can do is making changes to be healthier and hope they will see how committed I am.
Good luck at your session tomorrow.
Karen
