How long have you been out of surgery for? I had my surgery on April 4, 2012. So just under 8 months

how much weight have you lost? 92 ish lbs

what procedure did you have? VSG in mexico

If at goal how long have you been at maitanance for? I still want to lose 30 lbs but am losing super slow for the last month. I haven't been logging though and snacking a little too much, too many carbs.

Best tip you ever received? papaya enzyme for the first few months is awesome. When you eat something that has a "stuck" feeling - it helps. Even if it is psychological lol.... eat protein first. Click is awesome. Mint cookie protein is awesome. Buy your clothes tighter than you think they should be - while you are losing. pear nectar is good for constipation. Take your vitamins! ( my d is low , along with calcium and it's a pain getting it back up). Heating up food on the stove is much easier than the microwave. The micro dries it out too much.  avoid snacking and grazing... seems so easy at first but the honeymoon period is real! the greatest weight loss is the first 6 months- take advantage of it.

What do you wish somebody would have told you? Don't buy too much stuff! I stocked up on soups, jello, puddings protein for post op. OMG you just can't get it that you can't eat much at all. It's mind boggling.  I still have most of that stuff now - 8 months later lol.

How long have you been out of surgery for? I am coming up on my 2 yr surgiversary Nov, 29th.

how much weight have you lost? I have lost 146lbs from my highest weight ever.

what procedure did you have? I had the VSG

If at goal how long have you been at maintenance for? I have been at goal since  8 mos out. Maintenance has been great for me. I still don't drink when I eat, I still count my water and protein too. I splurge and eat treats too!

Best tip you ever received? As soon as you can, EXERCISE!!! For so many reasons, it helps build muscle back, keep energy up, tighten up skin tone (within reason) plus it feels good to be able to move freely without all the extra junk in my trunk...LOL

What do you wish somebody would have told you? I don't think there is anything I wasn't prepared for...best thing for me all the way through was to stay connected to people in the same situation. No one "gets" it quite like someone who has lived it. That being said, people do live this experience differently and may view things differently but I found that if I just took what worked for me and left the rest. But people told me that...LOL

How long have you been out of surgery for?

I just had my 1 year anniversary 2 weeks ago.

how much weight have you lost?

My weight was 239 lbs with a bmi of 41.0, my weight now is 128 lbs with a bmi of 22.0.

what procedure did you have?

RNY

If at goal how long have you been at maitanance for?

The nut's goal for me was 165-170. I reached that by month 7/8ish. My own goal was 140 and I've surpassed that. I'd now like to loose 8 more lbs to be 120 lbs, but I'm not really trying. If it happens it happens.

Best tip you ever received?

I've had lots. But right after surgery Booster juice was a good friend. I'd get a protein drink with an extra scoop of protein powder in it. This helped alot. Also, dont worry right after surgery as you may not lose weight but even gain some. I was paranoid about this.

What do you wish somebody would have told you?

Kinda at a loss on this one. I felt I was pretty much prepared. Initially the best advice I can give is rest, don't worry about the protein right after surgery, don't over shop before surgery as you probably will no longer like what you used to. Also everyone is right about the tube sock boobs, don't over shop on clothes as you will got thru a size every 2 weeks or so. I still only own a couple pair of pants at a time. Also the best advice I can give is it will be all worthwhile in the long run.
