Prune juice ?

So I am taking at least 2 tsp. of benefiber daily  but am having no luck having a BM.  Does prune juice work/help?  Will it make me sick? If it helps how much do I drink?  Any help would be great! I have not gone since last Sunday and am starting to get worried.  I tried breaking open a stool softener and putting it in water but it is just nasty!!!

Sorry if this is TMI!!

Thanks

Hi Candygirl

Check out the link below about prune juice and how much to drink. There are some suggestions about amounts and effects. It seems to work for me. I'd start off with 4-6 oz and see if anything happens, like people have suggested on this site. Too much and you'll end up with the opposite problem!

Try the 'Smooth Moves' tea (available in the 'organic section' at superstore). It is amazing. It is very gentle and worked wonders for me.

You take it at night and you'll go in the morning. It says to let it steep for around 5 minutes...I usually do it for about 10 if I haven't gone in awhile.

It's also available at Walmart and health food stores.

Good luck!

I find pear juice works better than prunes for me. I did some research and mom's were recommending it over prunes for babies . Pear juice is much tastier lol. I buy the pear nectar at sobey's cash and carry ( might be at the regular store too- haven't seen it though) it's thick and has more of the whole fruit in it.

I usually take senna every few days  and pear juice daily and it seems to keep me going. I had issues with constipation pre op too.  Every one has things that work better. Trial and error it seems
