Hairloss
Loving all the positives with surgery but the huge negative right now and the past month or so has been hair loss, its everywhere....my hair is no word of a lie 50% thinner than it used to be...now i dont know if it keeps falling out due to the stress of losing it or because im lacking something or if its just a side effect of the surgery! trying to stay positive but a lady at work pointed out that shes noticed my hairs thinner...i know right what the h*ll! anyways im 4 months post op and was wondering if anyone else went through this phase (really hoping its a phase) or if theyre going through it now?
help!!
I am going through it right now too. I am a little over 4 months post op. I started taking biotin about a week ago, has not helped yet. I was told this is a side effect of the shock to the body of surgery, not really a nutrition problem. Right now I really don't care why I just want it to stop. Some folks say biotin helps, I don't know how long it takes to help. If you find any thing that helps, please post. Barb
I was going to use biotin ( which I've heard doesn't really stop the hair loss but helps with regrowth) but I was worried about body hair . It's not selective about what regrowth ! I figured I would rude it out !
I am 3 years post op and my Dr warned me about the hair loss due to the fact that I have fine hair. They suggested using Silica by Jamison. At first i didn't think it worked, so I stopped and wow the amount of hair I lossed in that 1 week was double what I was loosing taking Silica. It is a side effect and will stop. My hair grew back slowly.
Good Luck!
Yup mine started at 3 months and is still falling out at 5.5 months. A lot thinner than before, but so am I I have read that there really is nothing that will help, its a side effect of the surgery and rapid weight loss and will subside by about 6-9 months.
Get a different haircut, use lots of hairspray..thats whats working for me so far. I know its hard to handle but isnt the weight loss so worth it??!!

I have been dealing with hairloss for the past 20 years. I am almost 6 months post op now and have experienced a lot of thinning too Something that might help you cope is a product from bumble and bumble called hair powder. It comes in about four colour choices and is in an aerosol can. You spray it on at your scalp under your hair and the best technique is short bursts of spray and shaking the can between each spray. It helps to disquise the brightness of your scalp showing and does give the fine hair a bit of a lift. In Winnipeg you can get it at. Jerry's hair in grant park or at Edward Carriere's on Broadway The last one I bought was $34. If it gets too bad check out paula young wigs online. I wear a small hairpiece that clips on top and has top coverage and bangs and I had it recut to blend with my own hair and it looks very natural. I have had some fun with some wigs just incase I lose the little hair i do have. The one I like best is a Jacquline Smith and is on clearance so I don't think it will be around much longer. They have new ones called wiglets that are similar and clip on top instead of a full head wig. Hope that helps
