Anyone have lap band in Winnipeg???

      Just looking for anyone who has had the lapband in Winnipeg? Wanting some information and anyone willing to share their story with me. I have been going back and forth on my decision for the past 2 years and need to make a decision on what I'm going to do. Thank you.

I know one person in my personal life who had it done and had a horrible experience. She's down 4 lbs in 4 years. Nothing but complications. Still paying it off too. I've read so many horror stories online about it as we'll. it as the lowest weight loss stats and the highest complication rate. You can scar, the band can erode, slip, break. The vsg seems to be the surgery that the band promised to be.

Have you considered the pilot project? The rny or vsg? They are covered if you qualify( much better than the 18000 bucks the band costs!) I ended up paying and going to Mexico for mine( vsg-$5500) and love it

Lap band surgeries are on the decline - there have been too many people with complications.  Allergan is now trying to sell their bariatric program (lap band).  Do more research before you decide.  If you can afford the lap band here, you can afford to have the duodenal switch procedure in Mexico - It cost 8,000.  The duodenal switch is considered the best option for morbidly obese people.  I can eat bacon for breakfast and still loose weight.  Check out dsfacts.com  also have a ds forum board on OH.  Research all the surgeries.  You can also come to our meet and greet meetings, to ask questions from people who have had surgeries.  The next meet and greet has not been decided on yet.  Keep checking the board It will be posted once it is booked.  Barb
