Dr. Ponce de Leon's Losers
Iron 300 mg. , Calcium Citrate 1,500 mg with vitamin D - take 2 twice a day alone. I take mine at noon and supper and take my Iron in am, multi vitamin at bedtime. The multi vitamin I take is Multi sure for women you can get all your vites at walmart. You may want to get a good quality chewable for the first while if you cant swallow pills or liquid vitamins. Dr. Ponce doesn't really give you a list of vitamins and his diet for after surgery is not very good. You wont really have anything other than broth until you get back from surgery. What type of surgery are you having? Sleeve, Ds, or Rny.
Depends on your surgery type. The sleeve you should still supplement but you don't malabsorb at all... so it does depend on your diet. RNY and DS you need to take more and supplement things like Iron. Basically if you have a DS or RNY the ASBMS says you should take 2 100% multivites. I take 1 multivite, D3 -5000 units a day since I am low , a b12 ( can't remember the dose off hand since it is in my dosette) I had the VSG from Dr Ponce.
Don't take kid vitamins like flintstones. Take something that is formulated for adults. I use centrum for 55+ - has a good amount of stuff.
According to the american society metabolic and bariatric surgeons. this is what you should be taking. http://thebypassedlife.com/asmbs-vitamin-recommendations/ This sums it up nicely. The ASMBS has it in a large document meant for health care professionals.

B12 a day- 350-500 a day, Calcuim citrate 1500 mg ( not to be taken near iron) Iron taken based on lab results . I take vitamin D since I m deficient.
I take a Centrum 55+ chewable, a B12 sublingual, liquid calcium citrate and just purchased Vit C and D. My last labs were great but the doc wanted me to try to add these few extra and then see what the next set of labs show. I feel great but thats not always a indication of all that is good in the body. One thing is the Dr. Ponces plan is not the best for afterward and a few of us here have just adapted a plan that suits us and our needs with our doctor.
