Consult - finally!!
I'm finally in line! Yippee! I was referred last Halloween and I have an appointment for a consultation on Tuesday, Oct 10th at the Vic. How long does this process take until surgery? 3-6 months? Longer? I just want to get on with life and make my outside match my inside. I feel like I've been in limbo for the past year and now I'm finally on my way somewhere.
Any sage advice, ladies?

I was referred last Sept. I went for the group session in June and my appt. to meet the surgeon was for Nov. 1. I got a call about a week and a half ago and they said they had an opening. I met the surgeon and I when I asked him how long until I would get in for surgery ( me thinking it would probably be in Feb or March ) he said I would probably be in by the end of Oct. ! I went and had all my blood work done and all the other tests I needed and this week I go meet the crew at the Vic. Seems like things are speeding up alot! Hang in there it might seems slow but eventually it will starting moving quicker for you!
I was accepted into the program Oct 2011 and had my group session this past May. I met with Dr. Andrew last Wed. (the 26th) and was told I would be having the surgery before Christmas. I'm waiting for my appointments with the Nuts, the Psych and I will have to do the barium swallow.....I'm a need to know now person (the not knowing kills me) and yes, it's only been 4 days, but I want my appointments and surgery dates now, LOL!! However, I have been overweight all my life, so really....2-3 more months for surgery isn't going to break the bank. Good Luck!!!!
I had my referal in may of last year, orientation was nov 2011, Dr consult in Dec, Psych was in january and nut in march. I finally took my name off the list last month.
I had my physical in january and expressed concern that it might not be good when the surgery was scheduled if it took more that 6 months. They said they weren't worried- It came and went and no date. I ended up going to mexico and didnt tell them- I was still on the list.
I was still on the list with no date in sight. I think they originally said about 1 yr wait. Then they said a few months from the time you saw the dr - I'm glad I paid and got it done. I'm 90 lbs lighter and had an amazing summer being able to bike and move around. Nipped the beginning of diabetes in the bud and have a much better quality of life. I didn't want to wait any longer ( I also actually felt better about going to mexico with a much more experienced surgeon in this procedure- the surgeon I has done thousands of sleeves and a very low complication rate.... He will do several a day week in and week out. . I really feel happy with my decision in case I sound bitter lol)
