Hello,

I am brand new to this board and have a ton of questions.
I have my inital meetings scheduled in the next week.
I am very excited to have this surgery and become healthier, but I am very afraid of being put under and what to except in the hospital.
I am very excited for the life change and becoming a better healithier person.

If anyone can give me some info on what to expect, what I am going to go through, how you felt through the different stages I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you!

If next week is your information session, you will have lots of time to wrap your mind around it.  I think this is the only advantage of the looooooong wait, you can deal with your emotions and questions.  If you are actually having your one on one with the surgeon, then you are much closer but alas, still have a few months wait.  I would go back and read through old posts on this forum for more local information (when I first joined, I went back about 20 pages in my thirst for knowledge)  You can also click on each person's name and it will take you to their blogs, some people really detail their surgical experience, hour by hour and it is nice to know what to expect.  My surgery is 7 weeks from today and it feels like I have been waiting forever.

There is also the main VSG forum (this includes the americans, so watch out, some be crazy) lol

Welcome to the forum

PS - come to the meet and greets, they make a world of difference.

Thank you for replying! Yes I have spent the past 2 days reading the posts, I went back 30 pages:D I have a huge quest for knowlege, I am one of those people that need to know everything. I have watched videos, seen different posts, The Doctors even had an episoide!

I have been accepted and am now going to the meetings with the psychologist, kinesiologist, nurse and dietitan. I dont know exactly what that will entail, but I am excited to find out.

I am very excited to learn more about the meet and greets to be with people that have gone through the experience. It makes it seem more doable.

7 weeks! Thats great! Good luck these next couple of months.

Welcome to this site Breanne. Gosh, I don't know where I would be without this place.  There's just so much information on here, great people too. The meet and greets are a fantastic way to meet others who've shared the same struggles.  Feel free to read my blog.  I documented pretty much my entire journey.

You have to see a kinesiologist?  What do they do?  Just wondering 'cause I've never heard of anyone else in Winnipeg having to see one pre-op.

Welcome to the group Breanne! This is an amazing network of people and wealth of information as you go through this journey!
As far as the kinesiologist goes, I am 5 weeks post-op and I am seeing her tomorrow. I have spoken with her on the telephone a couple of times post-op and now I finally get to meet her and get working toward my 1/2 marathon goal! All of the staff I have met from the Centre for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery have been amazing to deal with!!
