Dating

I'm 23 years old and never been on a date i have a profile on POF but nothings really come of it any dating advised would be greatly appreciated.

POF is odd sometimes.

I met my now ex husband when I was 17 and stayed married from 1990-2005 . Then started dating after we divorced. I went on POF and met a few guys. It'**** or miss on there. I did date a boyfriend for about 5 months that I met through there and still are friends. But man there are a lot of odd ducks on that site ( and in life in general)  You have to really sort through them.

I think the key is really having a good profile that is true to who you are.  Easier said than done though....

Do you have a picture on your POF profile? Is it a recent pic?  A witty yet honest bio?   I was on POF a few years ago and this is what I learned.  You need a picture to get any sort of responses/messages.   I went on so many 1-coffee/1-drink dates I lost count, but you gotta (I won't say kiss...because I certainly didn't) but you gotta meet a lot of frogs before you meet that prince.  And don't be shy...if you see someone you're interested in then make the first move and contact them.  If they respond, great.  If not, no harm in trying.  I would always message back and forth quite often before meeting someone.  That way I was able to weed through the ones where I knew there'd be no connection....ie: oddballs and losers...lol.  A date is just that...one date. Don't go into one thinking that this is the night you're gonna meet your dream man and live happily ever after.   And keep an open mind, some of the most enjoyable dates I had were with men who I honestly thought would be duds...lol.  I see you're half my age, and perhaps dating at your age is different.  I know at my age we all pretty well know what we want and don't want.  Most of us have been around the block and don't want to make the same mistakes we made in our younger years.  Good luck.  POF can work.  I met my boyfriend on there 3 years ago and we're still going strong.   

I hope you dont mind me jumpin in on this one ... i have a few friends who have used pof and a few who have use the other sites ( the ones you pay for ) and have had way better results with the ones that you pay to join .. as my brother says ( he met his wife on one that he paid to join ) when men have to pay they are more serious and you tend to ween out the ones who are just looking for a good time and are not looking for a life time .. Now i do know of 4 woman personally who have used pof and all have gotten a married man somewere along the line ..

 Jump away!  And I totally agree with you.  However I was too tight to use another site and pay.  It is funny though...even today if I decided to creep through POF, I would see soooo many of the same faces and profiles of people who were on there 3 years ago.  Makes me wonder how hard they're trying to meet people or are they just on there for their personal entertainment.

Oh ya , Lots of attached people on POF. I've known men who were married on there.  One guy I talked to for quite awhile and went out a couple times. Something felt off , I stopped going out with him. ( we had been out for coffee and another time a movie) It was weird little niggly things like he always responded really really late at night. Sure enough I later learned he WAS married. (Winnipeg is a small world - especially with facebook. )

But I do know people who have met and married or dated for a long time. You need to weed out a lot of people but it really can be worth it.
