Was supposed to see Dr. Andrew today for my 3 month follow up
( he ended up doing my surgery as Dr Hardy was off on maternity leave), but to my surprise, I saw Dr. Hardy. So my thoughts are, that should make for more surgeries now. Hopefully things will start moving a bit faster up the ladder for people. Barb C.

Yes she's back.  I saw her at 9:30 this morning.  That's the first time I had met her, although she was at my initial group consultation 11 months ago.  Something she told me today bothered me.  I'm 5 months out with another 35 lbs to go and she told me that at 6 months expect the weight loss to level off.  I'm so disheartened!   Is this true...all you WLS vets???  I was under the impression it leveled off at 9-12 months.

Mine slowed down around 6 months. My weight stopped coming off at about 9 months. I know that if I tried harder I could still lose weight, but I am content if I was to stay at this weight.

That would definitely make the wait times a little less..hopefully. As for the leveling off thing, I read between 6 and 9 months so make the most of the time you have. I have tried to follow that advice and at 12 weeks, I have lost 44 pounds. Really trying to make sure the time frame thing works the most to my advantage.

I've heard 6 months and I've also heard 9 months.   The important part is to develop good habits and use that honeymoon period well.  I personally believe 6 months as I am almost 5 months out and I find it wayyyy easier to eat these days. I still have restriction but it isn't as much of a chore and I can eat a little bit more these days. It's a lot easier to hit 1000 calories where as before I was struggling to get 800 in .

One of the charts I saw had a little list of what you could expect to lose in what time frame.

first 10 days- 10-15 lbs
6 weeks- 25-40 lbs
3 months 40-60 lbs
6 months 60-100 lbs
1 year 90-100+

For me I followed this so far almost exactly  ( 38 lbs at 6 weeks, close to 60 at 3 months etc)   but everyones miledge varies. I would imagine different surgeries , different weight loss , Same with if you lost weight prior to the surgery. I know I didn't and so I had that intial water weight and faster weight loss that someone who has been dieting more wouldn't have.

But again it is a tool and it is up to you how to use it. If you take in fewer calories and expend more you will still have weight loss.

I hope the wait times will improve with Dr. Hardy back but unless there is more OR times allotted to the clinic, things will stay the same.
