Response from Vic - M & G

Does anyone go to Fort Garry United Church? They used to be super good about renting space and waiving the fee?

I have left a message for St Mary Magdalene church in St Vital on St Vital Rd waiting for response and Dakota Lawn Bowling which has a complete kitchen dishes etc we can use waiting for response there.

Louis Riel Library is $51 plus tax for three hours and $69 plus tax for four hours they have openings on Thurs, the room has tables and chairs etc.

I am however hoping that St Mary Mag will be cheaper maybe free.

Well...I for one am NOT IMPRESSED with a fee. I think it's lame and seeing as YOU(us,we) have done the work in organizing meet n greets since the very beginning I would think they would want to support US!! It only makes the program and the patients stronger and more successful long term.

I think it's great that some members have offered up their homes, BUT it should not have to be like that. Some people just don't need to know where I live..LOL I do think the hospital is a great place for meetings, but to pay for parking and then room rental is a spanking. I don't live in the city, but I sure live a heck of a lot closer than MANY of you and I am bristling at the fee plus fuel. I don't have one single problem with having "guest speakers" or medical professionals speaking to the group in order to have to room for  free.
 
I hope someone looks more into churches or a hotel again. Either way I will do my best to be there and bring some $$ too.

PAY FOR PARKING!!?/!!  WTH!!   No where in my little town do we pay for parking.  weird.   I never thought of that.  So teasha, if we can organize something with any of those places you mentioned  - let's do it!

If the Bariatric Program wants to start something and plan stuff and do it on their coin - GREAT!  BUT that runs the risk of excluding the people who were not done here or who have been 'rejected" until the criteria changes and I don't think any of us are good with that - so that would put us back to square one. lol.

Let us know if you have any other solid options Teasha.  I can cancel anytime if I need to.

HOW MUCH IS THIS PARKING NONSENSE ANYWAY??

I don't for time the options are for the future.  I will hope to hear back from the other places but it won't be until Monday now.

I can still do it at my house if we want.  I am back to full time though so I would ask that everyone bring there out snacks coffee etc, because I don't get home until almost six. 

It is up to the group though you guys decide what you want to do.  I live in South St Vital past the mall.  However, if we want more of a room setting place then we will probably need to go with the Vic this time around.

Just let me know. 

I think them charging that much , even charging anything at all, is nuts! I vote that we take Teasha1 up on using her place, It's-like-killen-me on her bringing the coffee maker and cups, everyone can bring their own bottle of water, and what else do we need? I haven't been to any M&G yet, but was hoping to come to this one so not sure what else is needed. I also think, that if everyone tells them as they go back after surgery for follow ups at the Vic and say we need a place, they will eventually find a room . If we start paying, they will just keep letting us pay. Let,'s vote on it. Barb C.

The classrooms at the Vic are big enough for a group larger than 20...I think if they(Bariatric Clinin) see that this M & G works well, they may eventually take it over and then the cost would be covered by the program.  Just a guess??
Has anyone thought of meeting in a park, maybe St.Vital park or Assinaboine.  The weather has been so good, we could always have a back up plan, but maybe this Wednesday would work to meet outdoors.  Everyone could bring their own chair and there are picnic tables.  Just a thought??

I'm okay with paying for parking. This is just the first M and G at the Vic, maybe we can negotiate some changes before the next one. (Parking may be less or free after 6:00pm). I think we should use the Vic for this one, and if its not good we can find somewhere else. Thanks granny for getting the ball rolling on this m + G - I will attend where ever it is.
