Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know how to calculate this? I want to compare with my girlfriend to see percentage wise how we are doing..like on the Biggest Loser. Its not necessaryily the pounds lost but the %. So if my friend, who is 5' 6" and 280 pounds lost 56 pounds in 7 weeks what would her percentage be? Although I work with numbers all day, this totally has me lost!

Hi Madeleine

Take 56 divided by 280. The answer is 0.2, which is 20%. That's pretty impressive. I don't think height or time factor into what you want to calculate.

That's a pretty neat idea. I had never thought of calculating this.  I've never watched the Biggest Loser.  (I've lost 30% - 80 divided by 270 = 0.296...I'm rounding up to 0.3!) I'm amazed at that.

Hi ladies,
Kinda lost on this one. Are you taking the pounds that you've lost and dividing it by your weight now or what your weight was? Can you help me? I was 239 and I'm down to 148 (weight loss of 91 lbs and I just hit 8 months out)...Thanks...You got me kinda curios now.

Hi Mama-of-2

You take the pounds that you've lost (91) and divide it by your original weight (239) to find out what percentage of your original weight you have lost. Yours would be a whopping 38%!!!

You are where I want to be, but I started off a lot higher. You have done amazing!

Thanks Dianne! Appreciate the kind words and figuring out my percentage!
I'm almost at my own personal goal but now I've been left with alot of excess skin and very saggy boobs - for what I have left. I'm not complaining though just wish skin was covered.
Thanks again!

Hi Mama of 2. Removal of excess skin is covered by Manitoba health if you Loose 100 Lbs and maintain that weight loss for 1 year. Skin infections can become a problem.
