Hey there,

I think I read a while back that you are starting your preop diet on this thursday....I'm starting wednesday.  I was just wondering how you were feeling about it all...I seem to be so anxious for the last couple of days....very nervous stomack, of course that makes me eat also.  My husband keeps asking if I'm backing out...of course not...but I feel so nervous!  It's all I think about 24 hrs a day!

Just wondering how you were and if this is normal....

I start the Opti fast next Tuesday .... I'm getting a little anxious too.   I'm reading all of my WLS books and cookbooks again...like I'm cramming for some kind of exam!!

I'm getting a bit of the "last supper syndrome"   I've had more crap in the last couple of days than I've had in the past 6 months.   Same excuse comes across my lips when I'm offered something I shouldn't be eating... well I won't be able to do this in a couple of weeks....    Bad Bad Bad.... and whoever created the perogy is just evil!!

Very excited though!!   I can hardly wait to have some real momentum in changing some old habits!

best of luck rosebutt!!

I know what you're feeling and going through!  It's natural.  I tried to think of the start of my optifast as Day one in my journey of the rest of my life.  That was the no turning or looking back day.  The thought of the optifast diet was worse than actually doing it for me.  The best thing to do is keep busy and don't let your mind dwell on what you can't have.  For me the hardest times were in the evenings and the weekends so I had to really focus on doing something rather than just sitting and watching tv. And if I did watch tv I kept the remote close so I could turn off the commercials....they all seemed to be about food in the evenings.  I spent alot of time cleaning house and sorting through closets so I would come home to a clean and organized house post op and not feel like I needed to get up and do things before I was ready to.
I found I enjoyed the Optifast best  prepared in the blender with ice so it was a thick icy treat and I added sugar free flavourings.  You can get them at Walmart in the states (Torani) or online or at Starbucks.  I also added coffee to mine and I have read that some people added cinnamon to the vanilla or some crystal light.
It's natural to want to eat the foods you know you won't be eating later....the neat part for me and many people is that post surgery I don't have the same cravings for those foods and if I do, just a bite or two satisfies that craving.  I didn't put alot of thought into my last meal and I thought I would regret it but my whole attitude toward food is so different now, I really don't feel like I am missing anything.
Good luck, and be strong.  You got this!  Remember .... nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Thanks so much!!  It's very encouraging to hear...it's been hard the last couple of days and bad eating but, I'm not going to beat myself up for it.  Tomorrow will be the start of a new journey and I am so excited about it....Tonight I actually feel like....let's get started, I'm ready!!

This is a dumb question but....can you have sweeteners after surgery...like in coffee?  Can you dump on sweeteners??

Thanks for all your posts...its very helpful!!  Hope all is well with you!
