Good post Lorna, I didn't know that about the carb thing......I keep it in mind (when I get my surgery in 10 years...... lol)

Karenanne, I think you are very brave to post on here honestly about your difficulties and I think it's very important to those who are in the early stages of planning/considering WLS to see these problems so they can make informed decisions and ask the right questions.  I think we see so much success stories that when things don't go the same for us, we're scared to admit it.

You've come this far...... you will go alot further!  I think there is some kind of "pouch size test" that I read about on the main VSG forum before but I can't remember what it entailed.  If it's not something crazy or harmful, maybe you could try that and see how much you can really hold and take those results to the dr.  If you are not journaling your food, you should start so that you can go in with evidence to back up your or maybe he can send you for a barium swallow to see the size for himself...... just suggestions to consider

take care thanks for sharing your story, we're all here to help if we can...

day 3 is soft protein ( tuna , eggs , fish )
Day 4 is firm protein like ground meat and seafood
Day 5 is solid protein like chicken , beef etc....

I hope I did not make anyone change their mind about the operations, or put a damper on the excitement to receive it. The last thing I wanted to do was make someone second guess this. But I agree, we should know all the facts. Also, I had discovered there is an actually forum on here for failed surgeries!..So, I guess it does happen

The acid reflux was interesting to me. I did not know I had it until shortly before the surgery. Andrea had contacted me asking if Dr Andrews had got in contact with me over my acid reflux. I was told I had constant  recurring acid reflux. He hadn't contacted me at..so she got a hold of him. And he said it was alright to go ahead if it didn't seem to bother me.

Well, I wonder if I had this acid reflux for so long, I just figured it was normal. And couldn't compare against anything else. There are def many times now, very apparent..my stomach is filled with acid. it makes weird noises, complains alot..and I can hear gurgling, and feel acid burning in me.

There is so much to learn..better then I have learned. I would like to start all over.

Again, I thank you for your wonderful input. I will def go prepared to my last appt with Dr Andrews to discuss more with him.
I will keep an eye out for the next coffee get together!!

:-)
