I need help with this protien shake thing post op
Right after surgery I used the ready to drink Premier Protein from Costco. It has 30g of protein and only 160cals. It is $28 for 18 drinks if I remember correctly. I tried many different powders and I like Iso Sensation 93 from Popeyes. It has 30g of protein and 130cals. I like the vanilla bean flavour and the coffee flavoured one. Good luck on finding one you like

Protein powders are such an individual thing as far as taste is concerned. Lots of people like the one at Costco which is either Preimer or Kaizen I can't stand the taste of them at all.
I go to either Popeye's or Gorilla Jacks and try out the powder before I buy anything. I picked up Sytrax lemon tea protein powder today at Gorilla Jacks and it is pretty good but again individual tastes.
I started on the shakes weakend down in my 2nd week post op just so I had some protein. I used the BioX Whey Isolate Creamscycle flavour and I would mix it with ice and water and it was good.
I did the protein powders for breakfast and lunch for about seven weeks prior to sugery and then only shakes one week prior to surgery. Biox has a few really good tasting ones at least to me. I like the Strawberry Banana and the Fruit Splash as a Mango one that is good and a strawberry kiwi one as well - all of these are at Popeye's.
Good luck with your choices.

I agree with everyone else here...your tastes change for a few weeks/months after surgery.
Meyer's Drug Store (the Muscles by Meyers division) on Isabel St. has a decent selection of protein powders and they gave me several sample packages when I asked. I was told by a dietician at work that they also carry Beneprotein (in the pharmacy part of the store, I think), but I haven't checked out the price. I also haven't actually tried the samples that she gave me.
