NSV and a....I don't know what I'd call it!

Hello OH friends.

Today was my bestie's rehearsal for the Friday wedding.  There were no plans for dinner but was invited out and ended up at The Old Spaghetti Factory.  The NSV is kind of two-fold:  I did NOT eat any bread and also, I ate about 1/4-1/2 cup of linguini and it did nothing for me.  I used to die for the sourdough bread and pasta.  My "I don't know what" is that I can't find the menu item online for nutritional value :(  I know that it was a "deck of cards" portion of chicken (3 oz) and I counted 1/2 cup pasta to be safe.  The sauce was garlic parmasian with olive oil.  So I counted 1/8 cup of garlic (it was REALLY garlicky) and 2 tbsp of oil.  Along with the part salad (did find the salad info) it came out to a little more than 500 calories.  I've decided that I do not like not having detailed nutritional info!!!  Can only imagine the damage I could have done but I DIDN'T!!

Good for you, I can relate since bread is my weakness.  It feels great when you control the food instead of letting the food control you.

Keep up the good work!!

Wow good for you!   You must feel great for being able to control the situation.  As I read your post I was reminded of the saying... Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!  Way to go.

Wow, I am impressed as I am a bread lover too and to smell warm bread makes a bread lover drool.  I totally understand what you mean that you start looking at food differently.  I start
my Optifast diet on Tuesday 19th and every time I have to cook or eat I open the fridge or the cupboard and am thinking well I'd like that but what is it going to cost me and then the
guilt falls in because we wait soooo long to get accepted, see the Doctors, Nut...
that you realize just how much you want it.  People say eat all your favorite foods before
you start your liquid pre op diet but every time I go to grab them I feel guilty so I put them back.
But on Saturday I will not feel guilty as it is my birthday and I am making my favorite birthday
cake coffee mocha I am celebrating a new year in life and a new start in life.

You should be so proud of yourself and give yourself a big hug because you are developing
a new view of the foods you eat.  When I see posts like this is when I learn the most
and get a lump in my throat as I know how hard this battle is.  But you are winning this war one battle at a time.  It is so heart warming to see victories like this and especially during a time
of celebration as this is when we have been programed to eat.

You can do all things
