Restriction changes
Does anyone else finds that your restriction changes on a day to day basis? It's so weird . I really haven't listened to my body in so long that I find myself not able to eat what I measure out on day and yet the day before was good. Today seems like I'm full so fast and yesterday I felt like a bottomless pit compared to most days.
The other day I managed to drink about 4 l of water !! And most days it is a chOre to drink my 8 glasses ....
The plus side is I am listening to my body . As soon as I feel like almost burp or on occasion my nose has started to run , I know to put down my fork .

OMG thank you I was beginning to think it was only happening to me! Yesterday I could eat anything and no problem but the day before I could hardly get food down and had to really force myself to eat. I have the same problem with my water. Today I had trouble getting half an egg and half of a banana down at breakfast and then no problem eating a whole chicken snack wrap at lunch. You're right it's really teaching me to listen to my body! Hope we get this figured out some time soon!
I am now four weeks post op and have been doing fairly well transitioning to new foods. I have been careful to try new food slowly and if it doesn't go well I stop and wait a few days to try it again. I have been trying hard to listen to my body and let my pouch lead me. Oh and most importantly eat slowly and chew, chew, chew! It took me a good 30 minutes to eat the tiny McDonalds snack wrap.
1. I never had to puree my foods, by dr said as long as it is soft and I chew it well I should be fine, and he was right!
2. Even after a year I find that certain foods I can eat more of. I can eat my way through a hole pita from Pita pit in an hour but only a handful of carrots! I have dont measure my food my thought is eat until you dont feel anything. Not hungry, not full. This way I never over eat but get in enough to satisfy me and keep my cravings down. I do note that if I have several days of large portion sizes (or what I think are to large) I start to cut back and watch body signs more closley so I dont over extend my stomic.
About 3 weeks ago I was eating Doritios - Yes I know they are bad. And well for the first time in 8 months I puked! I new I should not eat those last 3 chips but they were so dam good that I did it anyways and my pouch rebelled and out they came! It was sick but a good reminder that I have still have to watch what I eat.
Also, I ate some triscits last week. Funny thing is about 20 minutes later, I drank and I guess cause they are made of fiber they expanded and man was I in pain. I now will only eat 3 so it never happens again, lol. Funny how sensitive to food you become after this surgery and funny how those around you never truly understand. When I say no to cake, I always get people trying to get me to have "just a little peice" or get comments about being to skinny and needing to eat more cake, lol.
Funny how you are dammed if you and dammed if you dont!

It's so weird to me . I think this is the first few days that I feel like I did in the first couple of weeks in terms of restriction . I had yogurt this morning and wasn't able to finish my little container and usually I fini**** easily. I had meatballs in sauce and the other day I finished 4 and today I could do 2 ... It's do odd .
Alle - just he careful - I know you are following your own plan since a few days out and not the dr or nuts plan ( if I remember correctly you should be on soft minced now according to the booklet ?) I know what kept me on the straight and narrow was worry about leaks and stressing the newly operated stomach out - figured I abused it for years and then chopped it out so I shouldnt try to push what I was allowed I was less likely to get complications . It also helps train our new pouches/ sleeves for what it needs .
