I just had my VSG surgery May 29, not even 2weeks ago. I have Ben trying various foods this week like canned tuna, canned salmon, asparagus and eggs and was going to try cottage cheese tomorrow, but I see now that eggs, beverages and cottage cheese are on phase 3 which is not for 4 weeks..if the food is going down ok is it safe to eat them this early in? Hi Barb,

From what I have been told it is better to wait and go through the phases as they tell you in the book the NUT gave you.  As by doing this your stomach heals better, your body adjusts a lot better and your success rate is better.   This is what I was told but to be on the safe side I would call the Dr's office or the NUT to see if it is ok.  I think this is something that we should know
because some people heal and can do things faster than others.  I have not had my VSG done yet but I am willing to learn from others who have done this already as I am only 3 weeks away.
But it sounds like you are doing really good.  WOW.  Robynjoy

I would be careful and follow instructions . It makes sense but your stomach was cut and you really don't have full feeling back now . Fluids and softer foods ( although some plans allow puréed at this point ) are so much easier to digest. Let's the nerves fully grow back before you pu**** . At the very keast call your nut or dr

Barb,

Respectfully I would suggest you call the NUT from the MB program. You received 2 responses here on this board but then posted on the main VSG board 6 hours later. The responses you got there were nearly identical. I see you have posted again on the VSG board about what to eat in week 3. The program you participated in was not a university study but a pilot project. If you don't feel that you adequately educated on what to eat post surgery then get in touch with Dr. Andrew or the NUT who assessed you.

Why are you trying to push the envelope so soon after surgery?   The early stages of food choices will pass quickly and will soon be a distant memory.  At  2 weeks out I was still eating lots of pureed soups and protien drinks.   Try sticking to the information booklet that Laura gave you...all the info is in there.  Your stomach is healing and will be for quite some time yet.  You don't want to damage anything by making poor food choices so early out.

I too noticed your posts on the main VSG forum and was a little taken aback when you called the MB pilot program a university study.  Egads!  I'm not sure I would have had the surgery if that were the case.

I wasn' t trying to pu**** sooner, It says you can have pureed fish in phase 2. I thought to myself this was a bit early, but it is there in black and white, page 7. It is really hard to puree tuna or salmon, so I think I will just stay away from it for a while anyways.
Also, I am sorry if I used the wrong term, but the first letter I received was on U of M letterhead and says " congratulations and welcome to the Bariatric program at the university of Manitoba, so that is where I got that term from. I guess I need to be better informed of stuff or need to start coming the meet and greet. Hopefully, I can attend the next one. Thanks for your comment back. Barb C
