It was suggested to me to share this on the boards instead of just in my blog, so here goes.......
I had my yearly medical with my GP on Monday. My Blood pressure was down, it was something like 128/85 when i am usually 134 or 136.. I have dropped a whole 2 lbs.. my blood work came back looking okay, he didnt change my meds at all, so am still on antidepressant x2, mood stabilzer x1, thyroid med, blood pressure pill, anxiety med, and now pain/antiinflamatory meds for my knees, at least it seems to help keep the inflamation down which is what I need.
He also told me that he wrote me a letter of referal to the program in Regina. As he had refered another patient of his there and they were accepted and was currently going through the surgery stage this month, and he said we are about the same size, or their BMI is a bit higher then my own.
Has anyone else been through the program @ Regina? can you tell me anything about it? how many times do you have to go back and forth to Regina? and how long was tha wait?
any info that you can pass along to me, i would really appreciate it very much.
Thank you

That's terrific Trish! I hope you will consider coming out to a meet and greet I think you would really benefit from talking with some people who understand how you are feeling and the issues you face everyday. There are so many wonderful ladies in this group and no judgements just compassion.
I hope you will consider it.
Sorry I can't help you with Regina.

Trish I was referred to Regina last summer and was turned down. Not because I didn't meet their criteria but because the nurse told me they rarely take people from out of province as they have so many people in Saskatchewan wanting the surgery. I believe when I first called the waiting list was similiar to Winnipeg. Good luck if you get in. I felt crushed when I found out they wouldn't take me....

Hi Trish,
Ironically, I am having surgery in Regina on June 25. I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he told me that he had referred another patient to Regina. Hmmm...could we have the same doctor?
I was referred nearly 2 years ago, I think. I was denied surgery in Winnipeg because my BMI was too high. I had not heard from Regina and then, I got a letter last September. I had my first appointment there in October and that started the 6 month program. I have travelled there 4 times since October. In April, I had my last visit and I was given my surgery date in May. My date is June 25.
They are terrific in Regina!! I can give you all the details about the appointments, times, etc. However, I am at the office right now and well, I can't stay online.
I am excited and scared to death at the same time. I start the liquid protein diet on Monday for two weeks, then the surgery, and then, life starts again.
I will give you more information when I get home today. You know, I really hope your doctor is Dr. Albak and I hope you get into the program in Saskatchewan.
Take care,
Kathy
