I got my RNY date if I pass the MIBI test

I called the medical clinic in Brandon today to see when I could expect my MIBI  test and she scheduled me for June 18 and 19th  - 2 days testing.  First I was told 3 months!
Then I got on the phone to Edmonton and even though my calls were not returned, I kept trying and finally got a hold of Lorraine.  She  scheduled me for RNY surgery on August 27,2012.   Its 3 months and this is only if the MIBI test goes well.  

I am really hoping I pass that test.  I got a call from my nurse and nut in Edmonton today and my vitamin D was low so I have to increase to 4000 units a day.  I am very pleased with the medical team in Edmonton so far.

Yes, I went for a regular stress test after a EKG test showed I had had a heart attack.  I failed the stress test, and was told I had the starting of heart disease.  When I went to see my surgeon and doctor in Edmonton, they were very concerned and said before I have WLS I needed to have a MIBI test.  Its a nuclear test, first injecting something into a IV which shows any artery blockage and after 5 hours, a treadmill test and then the following day another IV with dye or something where they check my artieries again.   If I fail, I would have to have a stint or balloon in my arteries.  I don't know if I would eventually be able to have the WLS in the future or not if I don't pass.

I always thought I was healthy besides being obese until I had 3 different EKG tests and they all showed signs of a heart attack. 

I am hoping its not progressed too far that I would not be able to go through with the surgery

I just wanted to add, there is over a year waiting period to have the MIBI test in Winnipeg, so they are sending me to Brandon for the test.

That makes sense! It's kind of scary that people have heart attacks and don't know but it happened to my dad. Glad you're able to head to Brandon. It would be horrible if you had to wait longer than necessary when then truth is losing the weight will benefit your heart.

 omg!! that sucks! but you must be so thankful that they have found this out. they may very well have just saved your life with their standard ekg in edmonton! dont get discouraged, stay positive, i will send my extra good vibes your way. so exciting to have a surg date aswell. when will you be given the results of the mibi test? i too am super pleased with the process in edmonton, they dont miss much do they!

Yes, I have mixed emotions, thankgoodness they found it and hopefully this won't screw up the help I need to fix the heart problem.   I don't know how long it takes, but from my doctor in Edmonton, I thought a day or two.  But then Manitoba might take 3 weeks, I don't know.  Do you think you can come to the meeting on Saturday.   You must be excited!
