Would you mind telling me what it is like going to Mexico for VSG? Can you explain the process and how it effects someone with their GP when you return home?

When were you slated to go in for surgery? Was your surgery canceled? And when did you talk to her as this will give US all a heads up and time to mentally prepare.

I just figured I didn't want to wait . I got a high blood sugar back ( A1C was 6.5 and fast blood sugar was like 7) It wasn't enough to call it diabetes but figured it would be in a few months.Originally it was going to be about a year wait and when I spoke to Andrea she had told me that it would be after the summer.
Anyway , I did a bunch of research and chose Dr Ponce de Leon in Tijuana. Contacted Trish from WLS4better life.I did it within 3 weeks of deciding. Sent a medical form to get approved for the surgery.
I flew to San Deigo and got picked up from the airport. They arrange everything at that point. Had my surgery that same day ( Tuesday) On the Thursday I went to the hotel from the hospital. We went shopping a bit. On Friday , We went back to San Diego. We arranged an extra day at a hotel there so it would be easier flying out and we could explore a little bit. The total cost was $5500 for the surgery and hotel in Tijuana,and ground transportation and meds for a month to take home. We paid $500 for our flights, and $80 for the hotel in San Deigo. For me it was a good choice and I am glad I did it.
I gave my GP a list of blood work that I will get at 3 months, 6 months and yearly. He will perscribe what I need- which at this point seems to be something for acid reflux, which I have been dealing with ok.
