They Canceled My Surgery

I just got off the phone with Andrea and my surgery booked for June 12th has been canceled and they do not know when it will be re-booked. 

This is so heart breaking and I just can't stop crying.  I was so looking forward to this and now I feel the rug has been pulled out from under me.

Andres said that 8 surgeries have to be canceled as the Vic Hos took away the surgery rooms from them.  She also said it might be in August? 

This is like a punch in the gut.  I am so upset and hurt.  I want this surgery so bad I can taste it.

CRAP!!  you must be devestated!  If she could at least give you some kind of idea on another date, that would be at least a little reassuring.  As awful as it is now, it's just another bump and YOU WILL GET DONE! Keep your eye on the ball, but it is still crappy, guess I can kiss goodbye any idea of being done before Christmas... booooo

Yeh it would be nice in August it will be a year from my first appointment at the clinic.  They give you a surgery date and you are more excited for that day than any christmas ever and when they tell you it is canceled your heart breaks in two. 

I am sorry for venting like this I am so sad and I just can't stop crying and people that come here really understand how this feels.

im soooooo sorry that this happened to you.but please please keep your chin up and know that it will happen for you.we all understand what you are going through,to know the biggest day is just around the corner and then to take it away,but keep in mind that this will happen for you and that we are all here for you

Thanks for your support.  It really, really sucks first they make you wait soooo long just to get in then they make you wait and wait for a surgery date then they give you one then they take it away.  I feel so sad for the others that are being canceled as well.  Sometimes I feel like a dog begging please, please can I have my VSG.

Ouch!  How horrible!  8 surgeries...not sure how many are performed in a day, but I'm pretty sure that's 3 or 4 days worth.  When I saw Dr. Andrew last week, I spoke with Andrea for a few minutes.  She said the main reason for the long wait for WLS is because of the lack of operating room times, and by the sounds of this, things won't be getting better anytime soon.  Hopefully you will be rescheduled in a few weeks.  I know it's hard, but try keep your chin up. 

I think it is really sad that the Vic canceled dates they have given already as people schedule and are looking forward to this as this surgery is a life changer.  I have been waiting sooo long and this really hurts.  I just can't stop crying as this surgery means so much to me.  Everyone on this site waits so long and has to jump through so many hoops to get accepted and approved.  We make sure to cross all our T's and dot all of our I''s as this is our lives we are talking about.  This has knocked me down but not out.  It is just so sad and everyone who is being canceled is really hurting today.  I just wonder how long it Will take to re book and how long the wait is going to be/

I hope this loss of surgical time is only a tempory thing (like for maintenace or something) and not time that has been taken from the program and given to someone else permanently.  My understanding was that the program only had 2 days a week and were only doing 8 - 10 patients a month, but those could be old stats.  Geeeez Louise, this is a dam emotional roller coaster!

You can say that again.

You feel like your emotions are on a roller coaster.  Sometimes I don't think the people higher up realize that this surgery could save money as we would be healthier and would not go to our Dr's so much.  We need more surgery times not less.  It scares me when I think how many of us are waiting for surgery and how many are waiting to be accepted.  Plus how many of them can't afford to pay for surgery.  I wonder how far back this is going to put people waiting for that call?

Aw thats really too bad..that would be beyond disappointing. But, on the bright side..its not off indefinitely..it still looks like this summer so at least you have that to hope for. Tomorrow will feel better and then you can focus on waiting just a bit longer..
